Two new test flights with Mini 2 and Dronelink Beta 3.2.0

Tom Knight

Hello friends, today I successfully completed two test flights with the Mini 2 and Dronelink Beta 3.2.0.
The recordings are jerky from time to time, and the horizon is crooked. Nothing ist stabilized in post.
I don't know exactly why that is.
It was a windy day, that could be a cause.

There are quite a few threads on this already so I won't go into any more details here, other than linking to this article.

    the horizon is crooked

This is a DJI issue, and you can trim the gimbal roll or calibrate the horizon in the DJI Fly app.

Hi Tom. That link Jim gave may help you diagsoe a possible solution.

Just some additional thoughts which I have found helpful. Anytime when rolling left or right with a Mini they may yaw a bit back and forth. My MM doesn’t work anywhere as well as my MA2. The heavier, larger size, more powerful drones perform much better. Plenty of others using the Mini’s with very good results overall though. Flying in lighter winds and slowing the drones speed can help. Since you said it was windy at the location I’m guessing that’s the issue along with the drones possible speed.

My MA2 doesn’t have this issue overall on paths but does with some Orbits or when using any plan with a POI. Anytime when using a plan especially with a POI the software is trying to adjust the drones yaw, roll, and keep the speed steady to keep it smooth and stay on the POI. Higher winds and the drones speed even on paths when rolling left or right can be jerky especially if using a POI or even a drone heading with a lighter drone.

I hope you find this helpful and maybe it will give you some ideas to alleviate the issue.

    Good luck and enjoy. Mike…..

    Jim and Mike,

thanks for your tips. The observations I wrote down were in no way meant as a criticism of Dronelink. In fact, I can very well imagine everything you describe. How should a small drone fly stably in the wind? It can not be. I'm still happy with my Mini 2 and will try to get better shots when the weather gets better. So far it has only been test flights to see if the Dronelink paths are correct. They work - so let's keep going :)

Could you please confirm that beta 3.2.0 is for beta testers only.

I just start using DL with my mini 2 now,  and would prefer to apply a mature version.

    Thanks.

The Mini’s are good drones. I’m sure you will be happy overall with all that DL offers. Jim and his team have added even far more functions/ features then just a year ago. Really an amazing app and I believe the best app by far over any other.
