Mini 2, Mini SE, and Air 2S Support + Android 12
Hey everyone!
Happy to announce that the latest Android beta (build 183) now has support for the Mini 2, Mini SE, and Air 2S. Unfortunately, DJI has not released an update to the iOS SDK (nor have they given a timeline), so these drones are Android only right now. Also, the SDK has several bugs in the DJI SDK which prevent the following functionality:
- Velocity-based rotation for the gimbal (such as interpolating between two markers on a path with different gimbal pitches) on the Air 2S
- Airdata integration (DJI changed the flight log format again).
This build also corrects the issues users were having with Android 12 (if you still see issues with Android 12, please provide feedback).

Does the mini 2 report 4mm in Photoshop? The Mini SE reports 4mm everywhere but photo shop which seems to report the actual value.
Aaron, I don't have Photo Shop or else I would check.
Mike Stead Thank you again! Very helpful info!!!
Mike Stead when you look at the properties of images from the Mini 2 can you get camera model # like FC7203 ?
My Mini 2 camera reports as model FC7303
Mike Stead good info thanks.
Having a issue on my mini2 when trying to map. Gets to start of the path and camera looks down. Then quits and pops up a error saying to turn off and on the drone or restart mission.
Also says something about the camera interval at the bottom. Changed the camera interval to 5 seconds, up from default 2 seconds and now it gives a to far off path error.
Trey Doege Did you try flying it with the DJI app and make sure the compass and IMU are calibrated?
Does it fly normally with the DJI app?
I have had tons of errors too! Some of which you mentioned. When it's taking off at 18-20ft altitude, I get a joystick error every time with my Air S2 after a couple failed attempts, it works. And sometimes I get the same error while its flying. I have yet to see the camera actually point down like it should, I have to manually point it down while its already taking pictures of the sky. And many times when I start, I also get that the drone is 70, 80 ft distance off. And when it errors, it doesn't stop taking pictures. My first attempt, I drained through two batteries before I was able to get it to do anything other than fly to the starting point before stopping on all of these errors.
Also, it makes no sense to me because its all the same hardware, but the signal is actually not good at all. The drone can be 200 feet away and the video starts glitching out and then I get a signal delay or something error and I have to move closer and unpause. I have flown the same drone and controller many times a couple miles away in the same area without any issue at all.
I have never used Dronelink before this beta, so I am not sure if its all normal expected glitchy errors, but the DJI app flies fine with my 100 or so miles I have flown.
Typically I get the below error right when the drone was about to start taking images right after getting to the starting point. The icon would show it moving, but the drone was not actually moving. I also got this at random times during flight and usually I am getting okay signal.
This one was a strange error, but I assume it was caused by me having to manually manipulate the gimble. Nothing fixed it until I landed the drown and took out the battery and restarted the app.
Hi everyone. Is really good to see all these interesting feedback. I've been trying to find the best information about the Air 2s sensor specs. Finally, I found this very detailed informacion (see the image). This is from an actual Air 2S file, so I believe it should be accurate. It'd be great to have the camera listed in the app. Regarding to that, I was wondering which camera spec is using the system for the "on thr fly" maps.
Thanks
Hi Jim. I've just noticed that you included the Air 2s, Mini 2 and Mini SE camera spec to the camera menu. I see that the values you used are a little different from those I pulled from my files. Do you have any idea how this may impact in the mapping missions? Thanks.
Create a map and select the Air 2S in the dropdown. Then duplicate the map, change it to custom, and put yours in. You will see the difference.
I tryed that, and the outcome depends on the area maped and altitude you chose. The values listed for the Air 2S in the app will require between 2 and 5% more photos that the ones I have. I guess it won't have a significative impact for small areas, but may have some impact on larger projects. Thanks
Got a friend with photoshop to check a Mini 2 image. 4.49mm focal length.
Hi Jim. I've noticed that when using the "on the fly" map feature with that A2S, the camera setting are in "default" rather than in "Mavic Air2S". Is there an easy way to fix that? Thanks
Hi!
Is there anybody with a successful mapping, from start to finish, with the AIR 2S? How was the results?
Yes, I was able to map about 5 acres successfully with my Air 2S despite all my issues documented in my earlier post. It just took a lot of manual intervention and restarting.
I also had to delete a lot of images due to the fact it continued to take a lot of images despite it erroring out and not moving the camera gimble automatically, so I had to adjust the delete the ones while I was adjusting.
Glad to hear it is doable Double Axel! I'm gonna try some mapping missions today if my day job ever concludes. : )
Axel Axel so the app is still a little buggy?
I guess in a few weeks all the bugs will be fixed, no? At least after a few days after the sdk been released, dronelink is almost 100% working.
Are the photos with the correct coordinates?
I really forward o replace my old Mavic Pro (currently using dronedeploy app) with the Air 2S.
Tony Simek give us some feedback after! ;)
I tested on day 1, and it was very very buggy. I posted my feedback, but haven't got any confirmation that its been read or received so I am not sure I even posted it in the right place.

But it was doable, just very buggy - so make sure you know how to take control!
There are many threads on this already. TLDR: ignore. This is a DJI UXSDK bug and it won't be corrected until we move away from their UXSDK (as they have abandoned development of it).
If you have other feedback or bug reports, I suggest posting each one in a new thread.
I understood that the first time you explained it :-)
About a week ago I think, I'm not sure why this is re-posted?
Sorry lol, I think I got my wires crossed and it was Axel who's questions didn't get answered.
Axel Axel if you have specific questions or bug reports, please post each to a new thread so it gets better attention.
Oh no worries I'm figuring this stuff out myself. :-)
I was able to do several mapping components today with both the Mini-2 and the Air2S. During one mission when I had to do a battery swap, upon resuming the mission the gimbal did not adjust to the 90deg down position again and I had to abort. Strangely enough those subsequent attempts at mapping with the Air2S did not have that issue, so it was a 1 time thing.
I did see the signal message everyone noted and it appears to apply to the Mini-2 as well as the SE. Apart from these minor bumps, the beta is pretty pain-free and seems to work with these devices. Thank you Jim McAndrew for Dronelink moving forward with more and more device support!
Tony Simek so the mapping (Nadir photos) works flawless - for a beta release ofc - with the AIR2s?
I really wanna change my old mavic for the air 2s.
Fantastic news and thank you.
Joao, it worked beautiful. I am very happy. Flew same mission with both mini2 and air2s and will be comparing camera quality later today once my odm runs finish.
Tony Simek very very good. fantastic indeed.
So the flight plan went perfect and totally auto, right?
And btw know this is a wierd request, but is it possible to share the flight path and the photos? i would love to test the photos in my agisoft metashape (too see if it works ok, and if the quality is that good - as i think it is).
Thank you once again and Axel Axel for the quick feedback.
João Marques - Other than the one glitch with Air2S on one mission (could not recreate), I had high success rate.
