Success with terrain following map
I had several areas that I needed to map that were in remote areas with little to no internet access during the flights. I was able to plan the flight while online, download for offline use (if needed) and use it in the field without issues.
The flights were in rugged terrain and most all the mapped area was below the launch elevation. Being able to perform manual flight at the beginning, get out away from the launch point and start the mission. Aircraft would lower to required altitude and execute. Multiple battery swaps included.
One mission I planned a launch area knowing I would have no ability to change it. Once I got in the field, I determined I needed to move my launch point. It would have been helpful to do this right then but I ended up driving to cell coverage, made the adjustment and downloaded for offline use and completed the mission. I understand why the launch location needs to be considered especially when doing terrain following. It was an easy change and luckily internet access was only 15 minutes away.
One nice to have would be to get some confirmation on what missions have been downloaded for offline use. As this was the first time downloading, I never know if it was downloaded and when I downloaded it so I just made sure I re downloaded everything each time. Having a check box and/or date/time of download would be helpful. Now that I know it works, it may be less of a concern.
Did this over multiple missions and different terrain. Dronelink performed flawlessly. Really impressed.
