Follow mode stick

Morris Hansen

Are these stick functions documented somewhere?  I couldn't find anything in the forum.  I could see some of the numbers changing and the drone responding but not exactly sure what is what.  The scroll wheel also appears to change things.

Is there a way to dynamically adjust the tilt of the camera?  I would like the capability to tilt the camera during the follow flight.

The sticks are meant to behave as if you were flying the drone manually (left up/down changes altitude, right up/down decreases/increases distance, etc). The gimbal wheel sets and "altitude offset" which causes the gimbal to roll up or down. The hope was to make it all intuitive.

I was familiar with autopilot and thought it was going to be the same. Didn’t seem to act like I thought it should but maybe the delays were messing with me. Will try again.

For the distance, it only shows positive values. What is the distance showing? From what to what?

Also, when I adjust the right stick, a P value shows up. Can be positive or negative. What does the P mean?

You should be able to see a transparent drone icon on the map that shows where the follow target is. When you move the sticks it will change and the opaque drone icon (where the drone is currently) will close towards it.

Assuming you are talking about the distance in the mode card, it is the distance from the drone to the object being followed.

Also, when I adjust the right stick, a P value shows up. Can be positive or negative. What does the P mean?

It means pitch, as expressed in terms of an altitude offset from object being followed, e.g. if the P is +15ft, it means pitch the gimbal up so as to have the center of the frame focus on a point 15ft above the object being followed.

That helps. Will try it again.

I forgot to mention that I tried follow with a cellular iPad and it said something like no gps. My phone worked fine.

Seems like the iPad works fine with other apps that need gps. I know or at least I thought I knew that cellular iPads had the gps and barometer hardware. I have a M1 iPad withe cellular that I can try next.

Can you post the exact message? Maybe it was warning you that the accuracy was bad.
