Cannot change exposure value (EV) in manual exposure mode - Mini 3 Pro

Matt T

Per the title, I can't change the EV in manual exposure mode to desired value with Mini 3 Pro.

Repeatability:

  • My Mini 3 pro was set to an EV of +3 from a previous session using DJI Fly. This setting persisted when I started Dronelink.
  • My mission includes a command to change exposure mode to manual and to change EV to 0. Required is selected on the commands.
  • At the start of the mission, the exposure mode command worked as expected and drone changed to manual. The EV command did not work, and the +3 value remained.
  • Attempting to change EV in manual flight also fails.

There is no ability to change the EV value when using manual exposure. This is a DJI firmware issue, not DL. If you try in the DJI Fly app you will see it cannot be changed as well. Basic rule of thumb is if it cannot be done in the DJI app then DL cannot force it to work. EV adjustment can only be adjusted in Auto Exposure.

I can change the EV setting in DJI Fly app in manual exposure mode. Attached is proof. Unless "Pro" means something other than manual exposure mode?

Your ISO is set to Auto Exposure which is why. Turn that off and you will see the EV value change to a MM value which means manual mode. It will then show at what value the exposure is based on your ISO and shutter speed. The purpose of having the EV adjustment when using Auto Exposure is because it may not be able get the proper exposure you want so slight adjustments can be made. When using Manual exposure mode there is no reason because you can set the camera yourself using ISO and Shutter Speed.

But in DJI fly, I can have an auto iso and a manual shutter and EV. I want to replicate this in my Dronelink mission.

It doesn't help me to have both ISO and shutter on manual, because the photo won't be correctly exposed in changing light condition. In essence, I want to force the shutter to 1/1000 (because the drone is flying at speed and I want to eliminate motion blur). Then, I want the EV set to 0 for a neutrally exposed photo. Finally, I want the ISO to be set to auto, because with a fixed shutter speed, it's the only remaining variable that the camera can change to correctly expose the photo.

I understand but not everything in the way the DJI Fly app may not work the same in DL. I’m guessing it’s the DJI SDK which can’t support a different mode for ISO and Shutter speed. If you’re setting the camera with a camera reset list then you will see it only allows you to select either Manual or Auto exposure. Maybe Jim can answer better. At least for now I’d just set the camera manually.

Just set the camera in DJI however you want then use DL.
