Edit Profile email address change not saved

I am attempting to change the email address which is associated to my profile and upon clicking on the pencil icon for "Edit name and email" I reach the Edit Profile Popup and attempt to change the associated email. But this does not update. I have changed my contact email address and this has stayed configured but it does not change my access via web or the app which is still my original email address. I need to change the email address associated because I have lost access to the email account.
