Photo Type - High Resolution - is it Possible to use ?

Patrick Meyers

I have the DJI Mavic 3E, DJI RC Pro, and Dronelink ver 5.0.0. The DJI units are all up to latest firmware. I have the Dronelink - Growth Account. When using Dronelink and configured the Photo Type to High Resolution. The drone will take off and go the starting point of the flight mission, and then STOP. It will not fly the Dronelink mission. The controller shows an error message, user does not have the right permission to use this option.

Question: How is it possible to use the Photo Type , High Resolution or Super Resolution, If so how?

The photo type options in the mission planner cover the full range of DJI's drones, but that doesn't mean that each drone has each option. You can tap the photo type button in the flight dashboard once your drone is connected to see which options are valid for your hardware.

Jim,  Can you tell me what Photo Type Options are available for the DJI mavic 3e and the DJI Air 2s?

I am trying to make the best 3d maps with your software and my DJI drones.

I am using Agisoft to generate the 3d maps

    Thanks;

You can look at each of those drones specs and see which cameras have what MP res. The M3E differs depending on which of the three cameras you use. 12, 20 or 48MP. I know the A2S has only 20MP.

Mike; Thanks for the update. I am still not clear on what Photo Type Options I can use for the Mavic 3E or Air 2S. Can you tell how I can find out what options like High Resolution or Super Resolution will work with out having to try and fly the mission, only to find out the drone under Dronelink app will not fly the mission when it reaches the start point.

You don’t have to fly a mission to find out. Like I already suggested: you can tap the photo type button in the flight dashboard once your drone is connected to see which options are valid for your hardware.

Hi, I have the same question and have looked at the flight dashboard and clicked all of the photo settings I can find and none of them indicate the photo type other than single, pano, timed, etc.

I just flew a mission and the camera is only capture 9 mb photos and not the 12 mb I am accustomed to?  I have not tried the high resolution option in the photo type, but as Patrick mentioned, it seems this does not work with the M3e.

    What am I missing?

File size is irrelevant as it saves in a compressed format so it can change all the time. The wide lens on the M3E captures images at 5280×3956 per their specs: https://enterprise.dji.com/mavic-3-enterprise/specs

Is this not what you are getting?

    Hi Jim-

Yes I am getting the resolution, but there for some reason the file size (mb) is reduced through the dronelink capture compared to the with the dji app.  The main factor changing file size is the ISO and when comparing two identical photos

    ooops hit enter to early,

1 photo with dronelink and the other with DJI app, they would normally be at ISO 100 for instance 12-13 (mb-DJI). 8-9 (mb-dronelink)

I did some more testing today, and I think we are good.  A little deceiving based on the 100 ISO, but did a sidexside and things seem to line up.  Thanks for your help!
