(1) Camera models and (2) Gimbal roll adjustment during orbit

Gregory Greene

I have two questions about using Dronelink for mapping:

(1) I see options for different cameras/drones when including map components in mission plans, and I can see the sensor/lens information displayed beneath that. How is this information used by Dronelink?

(2) Is there a way to adjust gimbal roll during an orbit? I can't find any information or previous discussions regarding this. I've tried including it as an achieved component on the approach, but it gets overridden by the default orbit pitch (which has roll = 0). I'm attempting to create a plan to assist with camera calibration, and adjusting camera roll is critical for the process I use.

    1. It uses the camera specifications to calculate the correct speed, path, and photo interval to accomplish the overlap percentages you specify.
    2. Do you mean roll trim? No, but I am curious as to why you would want to trim out your roll during flight. Why not do it in DJI Go as a preflight thing when you know you are on a level surface?

    Thanks for the reply Jim.

    1. That's super helpful info!!

    2. For gimbal roll adjustment, what I'm talking about can be seen here, at 3:05:

I'd like the ability to set the gimbal roll to ~10 degrees while flying an orbit. I intend to use this as part of my camera calibration procedure for 3d mapping, which requires me to be in the air, not on the ground. The gimbal orientation command in Dronelink allows you to enter a gimbal pitch, roll and yaw, but the setting gets overridden by the orbit function. If this is impossible to implement with the orbit function, I can try using waypoints instead, or I can try an entirely different calibration procedure. The orbit is just simple/convenient to implement.

Okay, you can submit it as a feature request but it will probably be quite a while as we have a mountain of other features we are currently working on. Alternatively, if you know how to write software, you can submit a pull request to our open source UI repos.
