Testing of the Focus, Orbit and Follow

Parkgt

Using a M2P on latest IOS with a 2018 9.7 iPad.  Did get a warning that the device was to slow?  Didn't seem to have any effect on results.

Focus worked well and as expected.

Orbit worked as expected.  It would not follow the RC; that would be a neat sub feature.  Also it would be nice if the Orbit could be saved like a Path.  Since it is not defined by a number of 'Marked" points that may be impossible?

Follow worked very well as long as the path was clear and OA was not encountering any obstructions to the path.  The right stick commands (Mode2) will result in continuous motion until cancelled by an opposite command as was mentioned by Eric.

Framing stayed centered well when there was sufficient distance between RC and craft.  Got my SUV up to about 25 mph on a tree covered lane and it had no problems keeping up.  Will post a boring video of that later.

I do not recommend using Follow when OA might detect any obstacles.   Close to the ground and around trees resulted in erratic behavior of the M2P, even the gimbal seemed haywire.  Eric warned about staying high and wide but I wanted to see what would happen in tight, not pretty and the limited OA of the M2P will not keep you from hitting a tree (or other object).  Don't ask how I know - you have been warned again!  Stay high and wide or in very open spaces.

All-in-all these a very nice additions to the DL feature set.

Thank you Jim.

What do you mean by save the orbit like a path?

Unless I missed it during testing I didn't see a prompt to name or save a OTF Orbit?  When using OTF Path in the past I have seen those prompts and saved the mission for repeat or adjustment.

Modes aren't really meant to be saved like plans in that sense. If you want to repeat an Orbit, you can use the renamed Orbit (now Circle) from before and it will do a component based Orbit.

Thanks for pointing out the difference.  Is there any chance of getting a dynamic orbit around a moving RC?

Planning to add it as an option in Follow.

I've been using dronelink for mapping and 3d modeling flights with Mavic Mini from late summer, but new modes don`t work.

I tested focus and follow near home in the city and in the field and doesn`t work. First thing the camera is not recording. Preview is freezes. And the most important, after a few meters (15-20) I have - Telemetry delayed  and drone is disconected. After few seconds is back. And drone was 10-20 meters from me. In maping mission I can fly in this place 500m .

In might be helpful for those responding to list what device they are using.
