Mavic Mini Mapping - Photographs

Andrew Busst

I am having some issues with my Mavic Mini photographing my house for a 3D scan.

Here's my plan...

If I just use the plan as is, photos taken seems really sporadic. Missing out whole rows or starting then stopping. I originally had this at 7km/s but slowed it down to 4km/s.

I have a couple of questions....

  • Has the mapping component been updated recently as I think I started using this one about 3-6 months ago, could that make a difference?
  • Am I supposed to have my camera set on timed exposure or does Dronelink do that?

In the end I got it to work quite well I just set the camera to 2 secs timed exposures and watched the shutter indicator like a hawk and when it went into pause mode just activated it again and feels like that made sure all images were captured. The actual flight path was flown flawlessly!

Cheers

Andrew

Dronelink automatically configures and starts the camera in Map components. As you already discovered, you need to slow the drone down. Part fo the issue is that the Mini has a poor RC connection, and if Dronelink triggers the camera to start and the RC is having a bad moment in terms of latency, that command may be severely delayed or ignored all-together. Thankfully DJI included Ocusync 2.0 in the Mini 2.

Makes sense! Maybe that upgrade to the Mini 2 will happen :-) Thanks
