No, I didn't receive any error messages. I'm not sure how capture and send a screen recording.
I did sync the flight data with Airdata if that helps.

You are going to have to be more specific about what you are expecting to happen during this mission, and what actually happened.
I wanted to point the gimbal down toward the ground or pond and take a picture.
Neither happened. The drone followed the path but kept the gimbal pointed at the horizon or 0 degrees and it didn't take the picture.
It navigated to the right place failed to point down or capture picture and then returned home per mission complete status.
I will try flying this plan tomorrow.

I'm able to move the gimbal and take pictures manually using the controller and am just trying to start with something basic that I can learn from and build from.
The movement functions work great.
I just ran this mission and it worked perfectly for me (though I probably wouldn't have planned it this way given when you are trying to do).
Just a random thought, but did you forget to remove the gimbal lock while doing the automated mission? My only other guess is that you were nearing the edge of the signal range and the gimbal commands weren't making it in time.
As to a better way to plan a mission to just take a still photo. Here are the steps I did to update your plan:
1) Right click > Simulated Drone
2) Drag the simulated drone to the marker location:
3) Adjust the simulated drone to 150ft by clicking here:
And then changing this:
4) Drag the simulated drone focus point to the POI:
5) Click these buttons in the 3D view:
6) Copied your take photo list to the end of the plan (after the heading):
7) Removed the original path

Yes, I must have forgotten to unlock the gimbal.
I'm very new to this and I don't know how to do this so I think this must be why it didn't work for me. I only watched the videos up to the camera part so I think I either missed that or haven't gotten to that topic yet. I will finish watching the videos, they are very helpful and make it easy for beginners like me to get started.
In the meantime can you advise me on how I unlock the gimbal??

If gimbal lock is the gimbal cover, this isn't the issue. If gimbal lock is some sort of setting I can't find any information on how to set it. Please let me know. Thanks again Jim. I will try to fly it tomorrow.
Yes I meant the gimbal cover = the gimbal lock.
Hi Jim - ok. Yes i removed the gimbal cover.
As I mentioned i am able to move the gimbal manually and take a photo using the controller and app screen.
I just tried the mission again and I had the same result as before. Movement to position worked but the gimbal remained pointed at 0 degrees and the photo didn't work.
Did you try this with a mavic mini like mine?
What version of dji firmware are you running on the mini?
Jim - FYI - I tried this with both v01.00.04 and v1.00.05 - same result - not working - for either.
I was using a mavic mini on 1.00.05. Can you send a screen recording of the mission running and make sure to tap the mission card so it is expanded?

The screen shows the mission name, map and camera screen and as far as I know I can only start the mission and watch it.

You can just post a link to it on youtube, dropbox, etc. The mission card is the UI element that shows the mission name with the play/pause button. If you tap it in the center it will expand or collapse. I wanted to see it expanded because it shows the details of what the flight controller is trying to do.

One thing that seems strange to me is when the drone is flying straight forward toward the destination in your video, the video feed looks as if the gimbal is crabbed off to the right which makes it look like the motion is more of a strafing motion (even though I am sure it wasn't). The only thing I can make of it at this point is it most be some sort of hardware or firmware issue that is specific to your drone since no one else is reporting it.

Should I open a case with DJI and get it replaced?
How do I approach that?

I have the same issue no matter how simple of a mission I create.
I don't know what else to suggest at this point besides trying it on a different mobile device or a different drone to rule out both of those possibilities. If you do need to get it replaced under DJI, I am not sure they will do it under warranty because as you say, they will probably just blame Dronelink, even though this problem isn't happening for anyone else using the same exact code.

I find when flying over flat terrain, the approach of the land comes straight down the middle. When there is a sevier slope down to the right, the land approaches from right of center, but leaves the frame view in the center.
Ok. Thanks. I'm really new to this so I don't quite understand what are referring to as far as the "crabbed off to the right" and strafing etc. Maybe I can do another recording?
All I know for certain as that the navigation works perfectly (admittedly not an expert) but the gimbal commands are not working and the start capture command isn't working. I can do these manually so at least I have a "work
around" but it is a bit disappointing.
I did try 2 different phones (android) and I will try an iPhone on Tuesday.
I don't have another drone to try unfortunately.

My new replacement mini just arrived.
I tried the same mission and it failed to point the gimbal down and failed to take the picture.

I am new at this too, but I can share what I have discovered.
I am flying a mavic mini, and using iPhone 11.
I used destinations, but using a path would have been a better solution.
I go to a Destination1 near take-off , just to initialize settings. stop camera, camera mode, max Alt, Max Distance, etc.
Then fly to Destination 2 to capture pic/vid. be aware: The settings in Dest 2, is what happens on the way yo Dest 2, not what happens when you get there.
Here is one of my experiences:
The plan is :
Fly to nearby Destination1 and perform initial setup. ( I usually do this as my practice, not sure if it is "best practice").
Fly to Destination2 at corner of property.
Point gimbal -90 and video to 2nd corner at Destination3.
Then fly to 3rd corner at Destination4 with gimbal -90 and capturing video.
How Dronelink reacts:
When "Add Gimbal Orientation" is used, that is what happens on the way TO the Destination. If you want gimbal at -90 between Dest2 and Dest3, Add Gimbal Orientation at Dest3. Then again at Dest4 to keep it down Default is something like -12.
If Destination option "Add Automatic Capture" is used, add this to Dest3 to capture between Dest2 and Dest3. Again, this is the command used on the APPROACH to the Destination. Setting this at Dest3 generates this at Dest2: Stop Capture, Camera mode/video, Start Capture. and generates at Dest3: Stop Capture.
To capture between Dest3 and Dest4, the "Add" the same instructions at Dest4. This will create 2 separate videos.
To create 1 video from Dest2-Dest3-Dest4, alternatively use "Set Achieved Component/Start Capture" at Dest2 to Start Capture (after proper initializations at Dest1) instead of "Add Automatic Capture" at Dest3 and Dest4.

Thanks Tommy. I used a path originally so that I could leverage all the control options it offers. Jim changed it to a destination to simply it I think.
I do find the automatic capture does work but the take picture as a component does not, nor do the gimbal orientation commands. I have tried this with 2 different minis and a galaxy s10+ as well as an iPhone XS.
The flight navigation works flawlessly and I can point the gimbal and take a picture manually so it's not the end of the world but it would be great if all the functions were working for me.
It's raining out here so I did the test in my living room and only had the gimbal orientation command and the take picture component defined.
I'll do some more testing when the weather clears this weekend.

One additional note.
If I manually point the gimbal down to -90 and launch the mission with it down, the gimbal resets to zero degrees when the mission is complete every time. So it does move the gimbal but just not when and where I want it.

Thank you Tommy - I will try and create something similar when the rain clears this weekend and try the video capture instead of the photo shot.
you can build a plan, and run the mission preview to see how it looks. then you will be ready when the weather clears.
