Using Virtual Sticks to pilot the drone
Hello everyone, I'm interested in knowing if it's possible to pilot a DJI drone using virtual sticks on screen.
I have an idea of having a Mission Command Center housed within a briefcase with a big screen device, the remote fixed to the lid of the briefcase for optimal antenna position and such and maybe virtual stick control or using a gamepad connected to the smart device to actually control flight.
Since the RC relays orders from the smart device, to the aircraft I'm thinking it wouldn't be all that hard.

Yes, the DJI sample app has this functionality.
Excuse my ignorance, but are you referring to a sample app that's included with the SDK?
I figure since Dronelink is able to issue commands to the drone. It wouldn't be too hard to actually fly a drone with virtual sticks on the app. Of course the communication would still go through the RC, I'm just thinking that if it's possible to send yaw, tilt, and such commands through an app, so can piloting from around the world using a remote desktop solution with on screen controls.
I am moving this to feature requests, but we are unlikely to do it any time soon. It's one thing to enable on screen controls. It's another thing to allow it remotely and deal with latency and other connection issues.
I am aware of the implications regarding latency, but as a proof of concept I was asking more of an app that would allow on screen controls, rather than Dronelink changing its core to fit my whims
Look no further than DJI's sample app then. They already did it.
