Test Gimbal and Camera Settings with DJI Assistant 2 - Simulator Lite
I looked for results regarding testing Dronelink mission plans on DJI Assistant 2 - Simulator Lite, and didn't see anything. My apologies if this is already known and discussed...
I just wanted to get it out there that you can test your flight plans in real time using DJI Assistant 2 - Simulator Lite. I realize Dronelink has a simulator on the web app, which I love, but as far as I know the Dronelink simulator does not physically engage the gimbal or camera during the simulation. If you have intricate commands to operate your gimbal and camera, and you want to see if they're working before testing them in an actual flight, you can do it with Simulator Lite.
Here are the steps I went through to get it working:
- Open DJI Assistant 2
- Turn on drone and remote, and let them connect.
- Connect drone to computer within 20 seconds after turning it on.
- Once drone is connected to DJI Assistant 2, open the simulator.
- Set starting point to match your home/starting point in your Dronelink flight plan.
- (Optional) Enable trace to verify your planned path is working.
- Start simulation.
- Connect phone to remote, and start Dronelink.
- Select and execute mission.
Hopefully this helps some people with their flight planning.

Here's a link to a video showing the gimbal and camera engaging while running a Dronelink mission plan in Simulator Lite:

I have camera modes changing throughout the flight as well, and you can actually see them engage on the app. Unfortunately, I only have one mobile device, so I had to record the video with the same device that was executing the mission plan and wasn't able to include it in this video.
Yep, we do this all the time in internal testing.
Thanks for the reply Jim. My intention was more to inform the broader Dronelink user community, but I'm glad it's a known and tested approach to command verification. Is there a better forum to let other Dronelink users know about this feature? Also, this is a great selling point of the app, why isn't it mentioned anywhere? I pretty much debugged my entire flight plan using this feature.
