Some Missions don’t work on Spark

Chris Laframboise
Whenever I launch the ‘On the Fly’ 360 photo mission it begins to start the mission then quits with an error message indicating the mission has failed. Same thing happens when I try to run a hyperlapse mission with a path I created. If I use my Phantom 3 standard all the missions run without problems.

The spark cannot pitch the gimbal as high as the 360 photo function wants. You will need to create copies of the component / functions and modify the parameters to work for your drone. We have a feature request to create a pano component that will take things like this into account (drone specific limitations), but it is still on the drawing board.

Thanks. That’s what I thought. I had to do the same in AutoPilot.

Because I’m using the pre-made hyperlapse component for my waypoint mission, is that the same reason why it doesn’t work too?

Once I get the 360 photo function copied into my repository how do I edit the individual components? I can view the components but cannot find anywhere to edit camera gimbal pitch. Is this not available on a premium account?

    Click the flat view button:

Then open up the appropriate components:

    Jim,

Thank you for the reply and the screen shots. I have changed the gimbal orientation on Row 1 to 0º and on Row 4 to -85º. I will try to run a mission tomorrow and hopefully this will work.

I tried my mission today with the gimbal orientation modifications but never got to see if they worked as another problem came to light - the drone wants to fly to the launch spot where I initially tried the 360 Photos OTF mission with the Spark. How do I modify the mission so that it will use the location (coordinates) that I fly the drone too rather than attempting to go back to the original coordinates?

    Thanks Chris

If you share a link to your mission plan I will know for sure, but my guess is you need to remove the destination component that is inside it.

You need to remove the destination.

Thanks for the quick reply. When I removed the destination The mission had a whole bunch of errors. I am just trying to modify the On The Fly plan to work with Spark. I like the prompt on the original OTF plan where you fly to the location and you mark the coordinates then start the mission.

The problem is that the original is a function, not a plan, so if you truly want the original functionality you need to create your own function. You should be able to get rid of the errors by coping the list in the Destination's immediate component to the start of the plan. Or just go pure function route.

Well since I have a premium account creating a function is not available to me - oh well!  Instead I just created a waypoints mission with a 360 pano component modified to suit the Spark's gimbal. I tested the mission tonight and everything seemed to work. I know for sure when I check my SD card.

Anyway, thanks for all your help.
