Initial mission action

Bob Reagan

Can anyone tell me why this simple plan, designed to go no higher than 5 feet, initially climbs to 18 feet before proceeding to the first destination?

If you start a mission with the drone on the ground, Dronelink issues the "precision takeoff command," which is baked in to DJI's firmware, and the default behavior is to ascend to 18 ft first. If you don't want this to happen, start while already flying.

I don't observe that Jim - Is it different for the Mavic Mini?  When I take off from the ground the drone rises to the altitude I set.

I don't think precision takeoff is supported for the mini, which means it just does a "normal" takeoff.

That would explain it then.  Speaking of supported/not supported, How does one find out whether a particular feature is supported or not. Some are clear from the drone's spec, but something like precision takeoff- where do you look?

DJI manuals / spec sheets / documentation.
