You are saying the camera command fails? Do you get an error message or can you post a screenshot / screen recording?
I better explain what I want to realize.
I want to take a video footage during a long flight pad.
First I explain the complete manual approach no missions or flight plan.
I set the camera Exposure mode to Shutter Priority, shutter speed 1/60, automatically the Aperture will be changed continuously during the complete footage to the best exposure.
To freeze this setting I hit the Data phone screen button “Exposure Lock”
This exposure must be used for the complete video, this to avoid visual exposure level changes in the footage.
To realize this via a mission:

Unfortunately “Camera Auto exposure Lock” does not work, there are aperture changes during the complete footage.
Thank you for your feedback

It seems like you should issue the Camera Exposure Mode command before setting Camera Shutter Speed. Beyond that, when the Auto Exposure Lock command runs, I assume the mission keeps going without an error message? Is this on Android or iOS? Do you have access to the other platform to see if it is OS dependent?
Problem is not solved.
There are no error messages during the mission.
OS is Android.
If I hit the “Exposure lock” button on the Dronelink app on my data phone it toggles from highlighted to dark. Highlighted means ON.
“Camera Auto exposure lock” Enable, Enable means exactly the same as ON, please confirm.
If I send a Mission Command “Camera Auto exposure lock” Enable is 100% will the AE button highlight? important question.
The problem of Video Footage with permanent exposure changes is not professional.
How does Dronelink solve this problem?
Do you have a user’s manual?
Do you have a video tutorial explaining the usage of “Camera Auto exposure lock” commands
Thank you in advance
Francis
Yes, enabled means on.
No user manual right now. The commands are just meant to be an automatic way to do the things that are possible manually through the UI. My first thought would be the command is actually succeeding, but the UI just isn't reflecting the change. The problem is you say that you continue to see the aperture change. One last thing to check would be to turn if off in DJI Go / Fly, run a mission that just performs this single command. Then go back to Go/Fly and see what the UI reports.
Thank you Jim,
Simple UI test.
On the Data phone the Exposure Lock is not activated, the AE “lock”mini logo is not highlighted.
On the Datphone I activate manually the AE function, the AE “lock” logo is highlighted.
On the Data phone the Exposure Lock is not activated, AE “lock” logo is not highlighted.
I execute a Mission Enable ”Camera Auto Exposure Lock” on the data phone nothing changed
My conclusion: the command Enable ”Camera Auto Exposure Lock” is not working.
To be sure can you do the same test on a Android Dataphone .
Thank you in advance
Francis
Not sure what you mean by Data phone. I meant to do the test between the UI in the DJI native app versus Dronelink before and after the command was issued. I can test it again myself, but it worked when we originally released the feature so it may be OS and Drone specific. Also, it will be a while before we will get around to testing it and at the moment no one else is reporting this issue.
Data Phone = Mobile Device running the Android app
The test is relative simple, you do not have to fly outdoor or start the motors I can do it in +- 2 minutes. If you follow my test description in the previous post.
I never have had problems with DJI, Litchi and other programs since more as 2 years.
The Dataphone is a “ONE plus version 6” it appears in the recommended list of Litchi.
I will not go in details, but Using “Camera Auto Exposure lock” is really TOP, without makes it extra complex to handle, and compared to Litchi, Dronelink offers the best solution . . . if it works.
I hope you change your mind.
If someone ells is reading this, please help me I will really appreciate this.
Best regards
Francis
We are committed to looking into it, I just can't give you a timeframe.
I was able to reproduce and fix this issue. Will be available with the 1.7.2 release. Thanks for reporting it!
I'm just now learning about some of the camera components I can use in DL.
I'm mostly doing some mapping, and the issue I have is trying to get the settings for the camera. I keep getting them over exposed and it looks like the DL UI is wanting to use the automatic settings in the camera (this is a MA2 and I'm using a Samsung S8). I would prefer to be able to get up in the air, then be able to adjust the camera settings manually based on the lighting I'm seeing that day and in that location, and then start the mission.
What would be the best way to do that? I found this thread because I was trying to figure out what the Auto Exposure Lock is in the camera components, and I'm wondering if the reason I can't seem to make camera adjustments is because of this auto exposure lock? I'm not sure.
But- I can see that I can make all kinds of camera settings in the components sections, which is very cool- BUT, is that the only way I can make my camera settings when I'm actually at the site and getting ready to fly the mission? It seems a time consuming way to do it and would be easier to make the changes in the UI right before starting the mission.
I hope that all makes sense!!
If you have an auto exposure command in the plan then remove it. I almost always use manually settings for my camera. The auto photo capture works well and my photos have never been over exposed with my MA2. You can change the auto capture in the map to “none” if you want to try and just add in camera command components manually. Setting the camera up is no different then when using the DJI app. Adjustments are usually needed depending on the environment. I know how to set mine up for most days but If a small amount of adjustments are needed I just quickly check and then adjust them in the plan. Only take a few minutes.
You can manually take it up with the DL app to see how it looks and adjust the camera settings to what looks good. You don’t even need to land if you don’t want to. Just go into the mission list and click on that plan and click edit plan. Then change the camera settings in the plan to what you liked. Once completed the new settings should be applied and ready to go. I’m not sure you will actually need to close the app for the changes to be applied but won’t hurt to make sure. The mission should be able to start from where it is without landing and restarting everything whether it’s a mission path or mapping mission from the altitude and position you had it hovering. Landing is not necessary
I have a few repo list created for camera commands for video, photos etc., which can be added quickly without needing to add each component every mission. It makes it so much quicker and once I add the camera command list I can change anything in that like the ISO, Shutter, white balance etc.
Maybe this will help but if not I’m sure Jim can help with the auto exposure mode. It may be better to start a new thread with your specific question instead of adding to a year old post. Nothing wrong with adding this here but since it’s an old post it could be overlooked. Hope this helps.
Good luck and Enjoy, Mike…..
I didn't have any camera components in the plan, I was just trying to figure out if I should because there seems to be a lack of control over the camera when I've flown a plan.
When I set it on auto then it over exposes every shot. If I put it on M (which I assume is manual) then the only thing I can change is what's under "shutter"...and I assume that's shutter speed and I should just assume that it's the same as 1/x and on here it just gives the bottom number?
It won't let me change the ISO or aperture.
There's a little - and + there under EV (and I'm not sure what that is) and I can tap the + and make that setting -5.0 and then it won't change anymore after that.
So- that's why I was thinking if I can figure out the camera settings and enter that into the components then maybe I have a shot at having some decent pictures. Otherwise it feels like I'm stuck with the over exposed auto settings.
I wonder why with my MA2 I have no control over the camera but you do? I can do all the settings I need in the DJI app, but when I switch over the DL I can't.
