Google Earth Problem

Wolfgang Kubannek

I have a problem with my plan. When displayed in Google Earth, the track is displayed completely wrong. Way too high above the terrain. Do I have to consider something with Earth, e.g. the altitude in meters and not in Feed https://app.dronelink.com/wolfgang-kubannek-4rbDEc9zSytP2U3Q7Ckm/test-plan/plan/JPLjxC2A4yu3VCf9Po5J/cwEoDpFbBHdPtHGx8jWP

You can change the unit system in the settings here:

Many thanks for the answer. There were already the correct settings. Unfortunately it did not help. It is not normal that the track is so far above the actual track.

No. I ran it and it looks pretty close to me. Which part do you think is wrong? By the way, this mission will almost certainly lose connection and fail.

I didn't really want to fly the track either. I just saw it as an exercise. I live in the Swiss Alps

I work with Google Earth Pro. The App on my Mac, and if I would use the web version, Google Chrome.

Thank you very much for the very good support. 👍👍  It works in the web version on Chrome. The Google Chrome Pro does not work.

I made a similar observation to Wolfgang’s in a comment a few weeks ago. I was convinced that there was  a three-dimensional variance between the flight path in Dronelink and the one in Google Earth. In an attempt to confirm whether there was an X-Y variance, I pointed the gimbal to -90 and re-ran the same missions. The resulting video in Google Earth showed that the camera was pointing straight down where it was supposed to. My conclusion is that the blue flight path that we see in Google Earth is at the right place but appears not to be. I could not reach any conclusions on elevation above ATL but it also seems to me that what we see in Google Earth appears to be higher than expected.

I am having the same issue in Google Earth Pro.  It is difficult to be confident about a mission plan when Google Earth is showing it at 1000 + feet above AGL.  I hate to drive out there and find that the mission would not run, or worse yet, my Mavic 2 Pro does a fly away.

This was brought up 6 months ago, is there a resolution?

    NEW INFO:

It does work in the Web Version of Google Earth through Google Chrome

I never fixed it because I was never able to reproduce it.

Try using Google Earth Pro on a W10 PC. Mine worked on the Web Google Earth in Chrome as you had suggested on your earlier post. Google Earth Pro is more capable so it would be nice if it worked there. The online version is providing a better quality image than Pro at the location I am working on, go figure.

Thanks for your response and working on it!

Was it the same version?  I am curious if we have apples to apples.

Hi guys you can replicate the isssue by clicking on the last level called "reliefs".

Infact on the image posted by @Wolfgang Kubannek I noted that the reliefs are not present.

Another thing you need to watch out for when using Google Earth is to have 1 on the elevation amplification.
This affects the flight motion created by Dronelink.

I had my settings the same.  Google Earth Pro version 7.3.3 on the PC with W10 has the view at 1000 feet AGL at minimum.  Google Earth on the Web, works, so go figure.

If you enable the flag the problem disappears.

This is because the path is on the true altitude but the image is without relief and therefore flat.
If you rehabilitate them, they show up

Jim, you are running on a MAC even though it is the same Google Earth Pro version, the OS difference could be why you are not able to duplicate it.

As I had mentioned, it does work on the Web version, so I will just work from there for now.

    Raffaello,

I don't have the RELIEF Box in my version.

    Very good !

I've still not done any 3D model as I use the drone for fun, also if I build drones in my company but for government and search and rescue companies.

Just to confirm, the final resolution is these two settings?

Yes Jim.  In particular the first one to see the plan on the map at the right altitude/position.  The second one to have the right flight movements
