Improvements on Map component #3 : pause drone when taking pictures
In Map Component (Normal / Grid) - the drone is moving at a constant speed.
This is causing a slight blur on pictures, of course depending on the speed of the drone, and shutter speed etc.
It would improve the quality and sharpness a lot, if the drone could either stop/pause, or slow down, when a picture is taken.
A total "stop" feature would add much to the total flight-time and drainage to the battery , due to the many de-accelleration and acceleration forces in such a flight, particularly if the drone is to be held at a complete stand-still for every shot, also working against windforces etc.
So I was wondering if it could be done (at least improve to some degree) with a "slowing down and speeding up" - algoritm ? - like a "speed-sinus curve" or something :)
let me know if this is could work ?
Thanks
Hans Henrik

It could be a really helpful tool

Jim McAndrew Thanks for pointing to the roadmap. but this particular item "triggered capture", is unclear to me.
What do you mean by "triggered" ? Is it "manually triggered" ? What do you have in mind with this "trigger" item?
And how does this item connect with the subject in this thread, that suggest the drone is standing still, (or slow down to a low speed) while taking a picture?
The idea of triggered capture means that instead of using the intervalometer, it will trigger the capture at regular distance intervals, with the option to slow down and/or hover at each capture.
By the way - I did a 4x mapping survey over my land, taking pictures every 2 sec.
I had the lines orientated north-south, or east-west. 10 km/h, 50 m altitude. MavicMini
I had the camera point 60° down, and facing either North, South, East or West in each component.
Thus I didnt have much blur in the focus, since the camera is moving slowly towards or away from the objects.
I think this is much better than moving sideways, or even Nadir, because with 60° you get much more vertical detail from objects.
The purpose of the mission is of course pointcloud of the land, and it turned out really wonderfull. I waited patiently for a day with near windstill and clouded sky. My main purpose was to capture point cloud of all the vegetation, trees and bushes. For this to work well in photogrammetry, you need near zero wind.
The MavicMini is actually quite cool little drone ! And works perfect with DroneLink, CUDOS!
