"Transmission signal weak"
Dear All, I have read your reports and bug reports about "Signal weak" or "Image Transmission Signal Weak". I just want to draw your attention about a strange behavior of Mavic Mini. My Mini after switching it on sets up the Transmission frequency to 5,8 GHz. The European version of Mavic Mini RC WIFI signal level almost 2 times lower than the US models. It means that even with DJI Fly you can lose the WIFI signal after 30 - 100 meters (depend on the area). On the other hand it is true also that in DJI Fly it is impossible to set the Transmission frequency to 2,4 GHz directly. The DJI Fly app does not allow to choose from the Transmission menu. How to change the frequency in that case: you can switch Channel Mode to Manual and than Auto. When you choose Auto you will receive a message: "Switching channels will automatically restart WIFI". You should confirm this by pressing the O.K. button. At this point you should wait till the change will executed. If the Frequency remained 5,8 GHz you should repeat the Channel Mode operations. After having set the communication Frequency to 2,4 GHz and Channel Mode Auto my "weak signal" problems disappeared. I wouldn't say it will solve all of your problems, but in lot of cases it will help.
One more think: after each off - on switching (changing the battery) it is necessary to do that!

Interesting hack.
I live in Europe (Finland) and I always fly on the 2.4GHz band (the Auto setting has selected it). However, just out of curiosity, I have couple of times manually chosen a frequency channel from 149-165 (i.e. the 5.8GHz) but the range has been then much shorter (naturally), therefore not a real option for me.
I get this "Image transmission weak signal" every time on the 2.4GHz band (don't remember if it was the same on the 5.8GHz band).
Hi Jim,
In the dronelink app, where can i change this 2.4 to 5.8?
Thanks.
If you want to manually change it, you have to use DJI GO or DJI Fly, otherwise you can issue a frequency band command in your plan:
Jim unfortunately the mavic mini 1 does not have OccuSync - so how do i do this ?
We have not added the Wifi equivalent commands yet.
ok thanks Jim.
I'm a little late to the party. Nonetheless, after reviewing and executing all the various suggestions for the "Image transmission signal weak" error message, out of frustration after not being able to fly so much as Trial Mission #1, I am turning to this post for help. Though a non-techie, it is difficult to grasp getting a weak image transmission signal error message when the controller and Mini are two feet apart on my desk as I type. Can we go at this again? Perhaps I missed one or more "Fixes" as I don't see any posts more recent than the hack above regarding changing the wi-fi freq in the Mini. Thanks in advance for a workable solution.
Please disregard my post above (for now). It appears that you believe the issue to be with the SDK and we are awaiting a fix from DJI.
We are no longer waiting for them to fix it. iOS already has a fix for it and Android will probably get the same fix in the next version or two.
It is in the field, when executing a mission, using the Android app, that one would need to select an appropriate frequency for that location, at that time. Does Dronelink offer this feature and, if so, how does one access it?
Alternatively, using DJI Fly app, one can select the Manual option under the Transmission item of the settings menu. However, can both the DJI Fly app and the Dronelink app be live simultaneously and will settings made in the DJI Fly app remain when switching to the Dronelink app?
I ask these things because, during mapping missions over open ground surrounded by trees, my Mini has lost connection with its controller (even when the latter has a parabolic and Yagi antenna which can fly the Mini to over 5,000 metres). In terms of these mapping missions, the controller is seldom over 300 metres from the Mini. This issue becomes much more pronounced when a few leaves get in the way.
I am guessing that the complete mission is not sent to the Mini before launch or that if the Mini cannot "see" the transmitter it decides not to complete its mission.
All drone, camera, and gimbal commands are set onboard by DJI's firmware, and the settings "stick" across apps because of this. If you need access to a command that Dronelink either doesn't have in the UI, or expose as an automated command, you set it in DJI GO / DJI Fly first, force close the app and then run Dronelink.
Brilliant, Jim. Many thanks.
