First Test flight today with Mavic Mini and DL app
So first of all.....I love this app and all that it does with Google earth, the programming method, etc. It is simply amazing.
So i set up a simple plan with just a few components....Basically one command to set the RTH altitude, and one to orbit my house with a point of interest being my house at the center and with video capture enabled.
After simulating the flight and also testing it on Google earth....I ran the actual mission.
Here is what I experienced. The compass needed calibration which meant I had to start the DJI app to do this. Worked fine and the Drone link app was happy with the calibration. It still wouldnt allow me to take off so I did the take off with DJI. ONce I did the take off the Drone Link app became happy with the situation and said the mission was ready to go....so I started it. The mission flew 100% successfully and captured the video and returned to home correctly and landed. During the mission I lost the camera view on the Drone Link Screen although I stiill had camera view on the DJI screen....wondering if there is some type of conflict or memory issue in my Iphone 6s that is competing for this resource between the two apps. Anyone else experience this???.... I would obviously prefer to be watching the drone link app screen but cant if the camera view is lost. Also....when touching the phone screen in the area where the camera view should be I get a yellow circle to appear with an X (to close the circle) at the top right corner of the circle. It hasnt caused a problem and im sure it has a purpose....I just dont know what it is. Any help is appreciated.
Anyway....the mission was a success, I got a nice video....but losing the camera view on the Drone Link screen is problematic.

I have lost DL video when DJI Fly is running in the background. Quit the DJI Fly app in the background and your DL video should be there.
I was told by Jim Andrew to completely close out any background apps by hitting the phone's home button twice, then swiping away any apps you see there. Seemed to maybe help me with the same problem. I have an iPhone 8.
I appreciate the feedback.... Im sure if I close out DJI it will probably fix the problem.....although it would be nice to have both running.
I re flew the mission today....first I turned on the drone, next I started the controller....then started DJI until all the status update and was ready for takeoff. Then I closed DJI and started Drone link and all of the status and video feed was normal. I pressed start on the screen and the mission flew perfectly, with full video feed and capture, and RTH functioned as it should. Completely happy with this app and ready to try more complicated missions.
Question: What is the best way to take a photo while orbiting with video capture active without disturbing the video capture or disturbing the mission in any other way.....Is this do able? Thanks
The camera is not capable of taking a still photo while recording video (hardware limitation).
I have experienced the yellow circle think too. I just touched yhe screen during the missionand it popped up. Love to know what it is.
That is the spot metering target.
thx Jim
Thanks for all of the input Guys. I appreciate it. Also… As a retired controls engineer/programmer, I absolutely love this app and it’s flexibility and capabilities. It is an amazing piece of work.
Thanks! Wait till you see what I have in store for the upcoming Modes (follow, orbit, focus, etc) architecture. The current plan is to make those fully scriptable as well...
Excited by follow :)
