Small area missions?

Reuben M Marcus

Is Dronelink recommended for small tiny area missions? like in a 100 foot x 100 foot or smaller?

thank you

That is fine, but at some point you hit the limits of the sensors.

Agree I'm testing in my backyard, I think I may be annoying the neighbors! It's only about 10 x 8 metres. So to reduce that I dropped my max height to about 2 metres and a couple of times the drone sped towards the house as the drone found what it thought was correct GPS (needless to say I have my finger hovering over the pause button!) but as long as your end height is well above the level of the house and you altitude range is like -1.0m the Drone should just go straight up in the clear before moving towards any waypoint if GPS is a little out it wouldn't in that case matter

Thank you! Jim, Eric, can / should Dronelink be used for tiny missions, like in an area 25 x 25 foot or so?? If yes, what are the finer points that need to be configured for a Drone with out obstacle avoidance? And If I see the drone headed for a crash, what is the quickest best way to take manually control?

We have successfully flown missions at less than 1mph, but you should be aware that the GPS and barometric altimeter can "drift" several feet each, so you better be very careful. Taking control is discussed here:

I used an open, just harvested field for my first test missions and had 50m x 50M as my 'play area' worked a treat. I've since flown a couple of fairly complex 500M missions with no issues. Loving Dronelink :)

    Jim, sorry I wasn't clearer.

I'm not talking about speed (MPH), I talking about space for the mission.. For example, could I expect a mission to succeed within a tiny area, like 25 X 25 foot.... or are those dimensions too GPS error prone because I'm trying to pack a path mission into such a tiny little area, instead of a big field...?

The reason I brought up the speed was because my assumption was you were trying to fly very precisely (thus slowly) in a confined area. I would not recommend flying faster in that small of a space.
