Taking control of the flight after mission completion

Kyle76

I flew my first mission today with my Mavic Mini (thanks for adding support to this model). It was a simple circle around my house at 100’ height and radius, videoing the action and then a stop capture command. The takeoff point was pretty much right under the spot where the circle ended. After getting the mission complete message, the Mini began to descend, but it was about 15 feet away from takeoff spot and came very near a tree branch on the way down. I could see no way to take control for a manual landing. How is this accomplished? The mission itself worked as planned. I look forward to many more.

I’m running the native app on iPhoneX.

I'm super new to Dronelink and the MM too but I think the default DJI behavior kicks in here. If you are within 20M of Home Point and instigate a RTH drone will land where it is. In short missions like this I have RTH behaviour as Hover then fly it back otherwise yes it will land where it is. You could add a destination back over your Home Point if you want it to land where it should? Good luck so many opportunities opened now!

I, too, flew my first mission with the MM this past weekend.  It sounds like you have it set up so that the MM performs a RTH as the end of mission.  If so, all you have to do is tap the RTH button on the controller once you receive the mission completed message on your screen.  This will stop the RTH and allow you to control the drone.

So, to be clear, I would take control in the Dronelink app? I do not recall seeing an RTH button there. Where would it be on the screen? I was in landscape orientation.

I use the RTH button on the controller itself.  You can continue to use the app as you fly the drone manually.

I also tried shutting down the app while the drone was hovering and then opening the DJI Fly app.  After a few seconds, the Fly app recognized that the drone was in flight and I was able to continue as normal.

So, if I tap the RTH button on the controller, it will abort RTH and allow me to take control? Good to know!
