Uploading flight path to AirData is a good way to pass location information to others easily

Christian G Jantz

I am taking an on-line class called Rapid Response Drone Data. One situation for an emergency is to be able to mark an area on a map that shows a meeting location or drop site for supplies, with a small amount of data. Setting up dronelink to upload the flight data to AirData works out well. Not much data needs to be transferred. Basically, 1.) Find an area you want to mark on the map, 2.) use dronelink to fly the area you want to mark (can simply fly, or use On The Fly), 3.) land the drone so the flight data gets uploaded. 4.) have someone who needs the coordinates grab the kml file from AirData, 5.) load the kml file into Google Earth.

I need to use dronelink a little more to come up with the ideal solution. The current strategy that I use includes the path to/from the marked off area. This makes sense, the entire flight is being recorded.

This is an image from Google Earth.

If anyone has suggestions on how I can record only the area of interest (not the flight path to/from), please let me know.
