Focus on POI

David Brown

Hi,

First off, thanks to support for the extremely fast response to a question I posted regarding not being able to sync to iPad - it was of course down to newbie user not reading the manual! I had created components but not created a plan to add them to.

OK, so I have a question regarding gimbal angle during an orbit. I have managed to program a rising corkscrew and set the gimbal angle to stay constant - ideal for rising up a tower. However, I'm trying to create a plan where the drone goes into a rising, widening orbit where the gimbal will stay focused on an object, and as the drone rises alter the gimbal pitch to stay focused on that point.

Thanks

This is currently the default behavior if you don't override the gimbal pitch. The POI is hard-coded to the center of the Orbit though, and you can't change it right now.

Sorry I didn't fully understand this answer. If I have an Orbit with widening radius and increasing altitude, the drone can't be set to focus on the midpoint of the Orbit where it was when the Orbit started (like a person standing on the ground)?  Meaning the pitch would be changing all the time to a smaller degree value while drone orbit radius gets bigger.

Btw, what are these 'gimbal channels'? Are these available also with Mini and if they are, do you have any examples or documentation on these, thanks!

The OP wanted the drone yaw to be controlled by the POI and the gimbal pitch to be static, which we have since made possible by specifying the gimbal pitch directly as in your screenshot. The channels are for other drones that have multiple gimbals/cameras (Inspire 2, M Series, etc).
