Native App Capture
I made a plan recently to do a simple run around a train station, and then capture some leading footage toward the city proper.
I also made a variant that would aim to stay over a street in case there were now buildings in what the map says is open fields.
Once on location, I discovered a lot of new construction in the area, all of which are buildings of significant height, with cranes on top.
Most importantly, the train station is way bigger than I imagined. Both much higher, and wider.
My request is to add an in-the-field ability to capture the drone's position, altitude, facing, and gimbal angle with the press of a button on the controller. Allow a path (waypoint/marker) to be constructed in this manner through a successive sequence of captures, and be uploaded to the online repository for detailed editing.
The primary need for this is composing the shot, or selecting best perspectives and motions for video sequences. This certainly cannot be done merely from a map, and the virtual drone is inadequate also. One has to be able to actually see the real thing to get a genuine perspective.
The secondary need is simply to avoid new stuff that doesn't show on the geo-map. Google is more current than whatever we are using, but even theirs is missing several important obstacles, and actual construction is considerably more advanced (and extensive) than what they show.
In my silly little video, Mavic Air: Night in Nur-Sultan, one thing I'm mostly happy about with it is the composure of the sequences. I've made a lot of mistakes, but there's a lot I like too.
I can't plan something like that with a map.
I don't know exactly what the vision is for Dronelink, but I for one would love to be able to capture waypoint/marker data from the drone onsite.
Also, a +1 for the native app feature request already logged for basic editing ability on the field.
Thanks for your patience.

On the roadmap under the heading Mission Generation.
Some of the obstacles would probably have shown up in relevant NOTAMs, no?
We have a version of this ready for testing on dev if you want to give it a shot! Email support@dronelink.com for access instructions.
