Mission stalled - no error message?

Roamer105

Bery strange thing this morning. I tried this mission: https://app.dronelink.com/2672/roamer105/plan/EBHjHooLZWttj3C9QYXu/x8ZOcjjn46xnQhha1Dqq

I was using a Smart Remote Controller with an M2P.

It loaded, got to elevation and moved to the start Then turned the wrong way about 90 degrees, paused, turned again the wrong way an additional 90 degrees and then finally turned to where it should have and started moving, started the camera and then about 5 seconds later just stalled out. No message, no further action short of a slight drift. The mission claimed it was still running but nothing more. I stopped it and got the drone back OK.

What did I do wrong with this mission?

If you resume that mission does it have the same issue? If abort it and load the plan as a new mission still same problem?

    Roamer,

Neat place to fly.  I am no expert but I didn't see anything in the mission that would seem to explain the behavior you described.

I like to understand others missions to see what they are trying to do and how.

Couple of questions if you don't mind.

    1) Why Approach at 220', then drop to 100' to then climb back to 589?

    2) What is the "A" POI doing?  Didn't see any markers calling it out or the preview looking at it at anytime?

I have had similar stalls or hangs. If I abort and reload mission the drone continue where it left off.

Turns out this was due to setting very high speeds (30mph+) for the mission.

When examining the mission I had wondered why he wanted to film at such high speeds.  Is there a threshold for speed at which problems are more likely?

Depends on the drone and environmental conditions, but I would say anything above 20 is starting to push it.

Is there a log or info we can look into when a mission stops to get an idea about the cause in order to correct it?

If you click on the Missions tab in your account (airplane taking off icon), then hover over the mission status in the bottom left corner (failed, aborted, etc), the resulting tooltip will show you more information. We are planning to expand this to show you more details, particularly if the mission had multiple engagements.
