Component Orbit automatically determines gimbal pitch

Christian G Jantz

I created a plan to fly to an island, then record video while orbiting around the island.

Component Destination was easy to use to get to the island. Component Orbit was easy to use to set up flying around the island.

When using Mission Preview, the gimbal pitch is displayed.

I experimented with altitude and radius for the orbit. For orbit, it looks like the gimbal pitch is determined by altitude and radius. This is good because it does a good job keeping the camera where most people would want it.

I don't have a need for this, but I could see where someone might have a special need (maybe something is only visible at a certain angle) for selecting the gimbal pitch.

I am not able to fly my missions yet, but as far as I can tell, component Orbit will determine the gimbal pitch and ignore command settings. Is this correct?

Sorry. Just saw the Orbit Options post. You are looking into adding additional features.

There are many cases where one needs the focus of a Orbit to be higher than ground level at the center point.

Yes, like tower inspection. I see you can do this now in the orbit setting.
