property lines kml import to use as borders during flight

Kent Bovee

Is there a way to import a kml of property lines to use during manual flying to use as reference during flight?

Thanks Barry. But I want to load a kml not for planning a mission but for reference while flying manually to keep track of boundaries etc. Is there a way to do this with dronelink or any other app?

Sounds like your asking to import it into the mobile app so when flying manually while using one of the On the Fly missions you can see the boundary’s. I have never heard of this feature in about 4 years of using DL. So unless I missed something then no.

Thanks Mike. I appreciate the reply. Yes, that's what I'm looking for.
Seems like a nice feature to add if possible

If you are trying to make sure you don't leave an area, one way you can do that is to apply for a custom unlock of an area.  If you have unlocked an area the drone will not fly outside of it.

However, DJI seem to have stopped allowing people to do that.  I actually created a video showing how to do it but, these days, if you apply for an unlock in area that doesn't have a restriction then the Flysafe team tend to reject it.

But...if you can get them to do that, it is an option that works.

Barry, I appreciate the feedback. I've done some unlocks but that's not really what I'm looking for. I do wildlife surveys and often times have study areas with delineated areas to survey or points of interest like an eagle nest location. So what I'm really looking for is not mission flights but manual flying with borders and specific locations marked for reference as I fly. I've used litchi to make path and waypoints and then go into manual mode. But it's clunky

If you were on a more modern drone such as a Mavic 3E you can import a KML to the Pilot 2 app and see it on the display as you fly.  But I don't know of a way to do that with the drones that you have off the top of my head.

Good to know. It might be time to upgrade. Do u have any recommendations for the cheapest drone and controller to upgrade to that option I'm looking for?

Just import the kml during planning, create a waypoint mission around the perimeter then load the mission but don’t start it while you are flying.

Jim, thanks for the tip. That's what I've been doing with litchi but it's kind of clunky, like I have to go into sport mode to fly manually and my zoom control doesn't work.
Does ur suggested method allow normal manual control with all normal controls like zoom etc and the kml shows during flight?

Having a mission loaded doesn’t affect any of the manaul controls, as long as the mission isn’t running. It won’t be the KML showing but rather the mission plan path.

Got it. Thanks so much for the feedback and suggestions.
It's not quite what I'm looking for but might be worth trying if I end up purchasing drone link
    Thanks again!
