360 Panorama - Drift

Ali

Hi everyone,

I've been using dronelink for a couple of years for some simple mapping missions with a Mavic Mini (1st gen). Everything has been working great!

Recently, I wanted to generate some 360 panoramas. I did a bunch of them the manual way using DJI Fly and timed photos. While the results ended-up being pretty good, it was really time consuming. That's when I discovered that I could do on-the-fly 360 panoramas through dronelink! Today I tried a few 360 panos. While the process is pretty simple and it seems to work, I noticed that the drone was moving about quite a bit throughout the mission (moving in plan by at least a meter and changing altitude at least by 10-20 cm). So the resulting images can't be stitched properly. The flying conditions were very good and there was no wind to speak of. To confirm things, I switched to doing it manually again and the drone was able to maintain hover perfectly and allow me to rotate around a consistent point.

I suspect the drone was trying to maintain a particular point based on GPS. Is there a way to just get the drone to hover in place and not make any positional adjustments? I didn't make any changes to the default settings, so not sure if there are some settings that help with this (like reducing the speed and rotation, etc.)

I have a MM and can test it if you share your specific mission.

Thanks Mike. It has been raining non-stop around here so I haven't had a chance to do another test. I didn't save the on-the-fly mission last time. I will share it as soon as I am able.

You can go into any recently flown mission in them Web app and select “Save As” and place it in a Repo. Then it can be edited or shared like any other plan.
