Camera setting anad speed setting M3E Series drones

David Terrazas

Hello All,

I was able to finally get the app to ignore camera calibration for the M3M drone

I have been testing drone link with my Mavic 3 Multispectral.  I set up a string of 3 flights, a waypoint, an orbit and a 2D map grid.

I do not see anywhere in the Dronelink app to edit camera settings, so can I just assume it will take what ever setting are setup in the Pilot 2 app as the default settings?  I ran this series yesterday and the video in the waypoint and orbit were really dark.

Also, no matter what speed I set for each mission segment, i.e. 25 mph, it always defaults to 8 mph, why?

Hi David. The Max speed regardless of the type of component is always just the very maximum speed if possible. The mapping component is designed to run at the speed necessary in order to capture photos based on how you set it up. In order to get the proper amount of photos consistently along the path at the proper spacing the mapping component runs at the speed which will give consistent results. There are several factors which will affect this. You can set the drones camera before the start of the mission either manually or with a camera reset list in the plan. ISO, Shutter, white balance, Auto or Manual exposure etc. You should be able to set it in the DL mobile app manually before the mission like with any drone. Check the link and make sure you enabled the camera icon to be able to adjust the settings. If you want to share the plan I’m sure someone can take a look at it. Enjoy.

This video goes into some detail about how the speed of the drone is affected by the other settings when creating maps - hope that is helpful

    To Mike (Arizona Wyldwest) ,

I just does not seem to follow the best logic and may not factor in that the M3E & M3M have mechanical/global shutters that have the ability to capture images every .7 seconds.

I flew the same 2D grid (3.2 acres) mission yesterday, using Pilot 2 and Dronelink.  Pilot 2 flew the mission on average 25 mph and when corning at waypoints, slowed down to 18 mph.  In Dronelink, flying the same mission it averaged about 18 mph and slowed down to almost 5 mph to turn at waypoints.

When it took off, and headed for starting point, it only flew at 8.5 mph.  That one I can not figure out.  It does the same thing when string flight routes together, it fles pretty slow in between each route, again about 8.5 mph.

I will keep testing and thank for the feedback.

Can you share the mission plan?

if you press on the purple signal the curtain opens with the departure and return speed.

Before starting the flight plan set the camera to minimum 1/1000 and ISO100. in this way at 100m you can fly at 10m/s without problems of blur.
