Starting using blank plan

I want to start a simple mission around my house. I'm starting with blank plan. I want to start flying the mission when I'm already in the air. Can I do that? The map isn't giving me enough resolution to choose a exact takeoff point, and I'm in a very congested area, with no big empty spaces. Also, I want to add only one waypoint at a time, but I only see add waypoints.

Lol. I don’t work for Dronelink but appreciate the remarks. I’m just a Hobbyist pilot and have always enjoyed helping others.

No, that's not what I want to do. I want to create the mission on my tablet at home.

I suggest that you give these a read/watch, and yes you can start running the mission once in the air, in fact that's what I normally do, I launch the drone, fly to about 50 feet altitude, make sure all is good then hit the play button to start the mission

When adding waypoints to a blank plan it will always add three of them but you can delete one of them. The minimum is two because it’s a path component which means it’s designed to fly along a paths route, not just straight to a specific location. If you want just one location then maybe use a destination component instead of waypoints.

    Ok. I'll look into that.

Ok. I got it. You click on waypoint elements. Then waypoint. Then it allows you to add just one waypoint. After you do this, it adds waypoint to the menu, so you can use that. BTW. I never saw destination component.

Yeah they changed it awhile back so I’m still using old terms at times. The old term was destination, it’s now called a Checkpoint and is under advanced and there are many more functions in that section. Check the link). Other than adding waypoints initially in the plan which adds the three, you can add one waypoint at a time to that path in a couple ways. The easiest way which I use is to just click on the + Icon which will add one waypoint. You can add one anywhere between the other waypoints or one at the end of the waypoint path. You must unlock the plan by clicking on the lock icon in the bottom right corner of the Web app screen. Much easier and quicker to add one then the other way but pilots choice. Enjoy Steven.

Not sure why I keep getting the pending approval in this forum lately but here is the link to the names and the changes.

Mike (Arizona Wyldwest), I've been getting a lot of pending approvals recently as well

Thanks Mike. I don't see any + icon. I only see a + ADD icon, and it doesn't allow you to add one waypoint, unless you use the method I described above.
We have a typhoon now here in the Philippines, so it's raining all the time, and I can't fly a test mission. Do you get many typhoons in Arizona? Lol!

You need to unlock the plan first. Once you unlock it you should see the + to add another waypoint. As the screenshot shows, you can add one at the end of the path or anywhere in between other waypoints. If you don’t see the + then you may have the “Waypoint Segment Pins” turned off in the map layers.

I started my first waypoint mission with dronelink. First, I flew about half the battery with Fly. Then I landed, and closed all apps. Then I started dronelink. It asked me if I wanted to connect to the RC-N1, and I said yes. So I flew to a couple hundred feet. At first I wasn't sure how to load a waypoint mission. But I figured it out, and then hit a blue button with an arrow on it to start the mission. It was flying slow, so it was hard to see it making progress. But finally I could see it moving from the start. I started losing signal, so I had to abort. But it least it's a start.

So I was just editing my mission, to make it closer to my starting point, but when I touch a waypoint, it brings up a big menu, that obscures the map, so I can't see where I want to move the waypoint too.

Here's the screenshot, plus another message I just got that I don't understand. See, I was trying to move D and it brought up that big menu.

The first screenshot is either because you right clicked with the mouse or if using a touch screen you held down too long. If you click or touch anywhere on the map it will disappear. The second screenshot is because you didn’t finish the last mission so it’s still considered paused. You can either run that last mission to complete it or abort it and run as a new mission.

I'm editing the mission on my android tablet. I have to hold it down a long time to move the waypoint.

I use an iPad and I have no issues. Unless there is a setting on that Android OS device in regards to the sensitivity for the touch screen you should have no problems. I’ve been using DL for well over 3 years while using an iPad and I have had no issue. Lightly tap on waypoint and immediately move it. Also you should start a new thread on seperate questions. This way it will be easier for other pilots to search for a topic and find it. Of course as always, you should search first. Good luck.

OK. I did that, and it worked! I guess because I'm used to using DJI waypoint editor, I'm holding it down and moving it. Thanks. I will start a new thread in the future. Remember, I'm still a beginner with dronelink. Your support is excellent! I will recommend to Jim, that you get a raise!
