Map canvas changes when basemap is changed in the online planning tool
When using the online tool on https://app.dronelink.com/ I want to use a normal map as my way to find where to plan a mission. But when I find it I'd like to swithch to a satelite picture as background before plotting my mission. When doing so, the tool decides to change the location back to my previous missions - which in this case is 800 km away from where I was supposed to plan the mission.
I assume this is a bug, that the location you are zoomed into when switching background map is not maintained. I can not see a reason for it being a feature.

It's more of an unintended consequence. When it changes the base layer it reloads the entire webpage, and when the page loads Dronelink automatically centers the previously planned missions in the view. The feature request here is to provide an option to turn that behavior off, but until then, we recommend that you change the base layer before doing anything else.
Thanks for a quick reply,
For me this was a strange behaviour. All my previous projects have been within a radius of probably 50 km. Now I wanted to look at a potential project far away. In a part of our country where the satellite images looks more or less the same. So not so easy to find the spot when using satellite background, using street maps are much easier. As a regular online map user the expected behaviour when changing map bakground/theme would be to stay at the same place.
A couple suggestion which may help. First you can also search for a city, town, zip code etc to get you there. Once at the location create a blank plan and place the reference pin at the location. You don’t need to create anything just place the reference pin there. This way when you change to the satellite layer it will stay there and you can start setting up a plan. Hope that helps. Enjoy.
