Can't connect dronelink to mini 3 pro

steven burnett

A month ago, I flew my mini 3 pro, with the RC-N1, using my Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ 5G. Now, around a month later, I updated the app, but it won't connect to my drone, a mini 3 pro. I do live in a DJI geo zone, blue, but this shouldn't affect it connecting to the drone. Also, I have a Samsing Galaxy Tab 3 that I fly with. When I tried this, it crashes and gives me these messages. Low Performance Device. Using this device may result in poor app performance or other unsuspecting issues. Please consider updating to a higher performance device for a safer and more reliable experiance. Then dronelink crashed. I fly with this tablet all the time using Fly. Apparently, you can't post pictures in this forum.

Hi Steven. Depending on what device you’re using like when I use my iPad 11 Pro, I need to post the comment first then go to edit on the post and I can then add a photo or other stuff. Just some info for further post in which you may want to add a photo.

Now back the question. Check the help article. This issue usually happens the mass majority of time when the DJI Fly app has not been correctly force stopped as explained in number 3.2. Many times pilots said they have closed it but after they have checked several times they realized the app was not properly force stopped. Swiping up will not force stop or close it and both apps cannot be connected at the same time. Also check number 4.1 regarding granting all permissions. Check for any of the other possible reasons and report back.

Thanks for the quick response. Like I said, I have flown with dronelink once with this tablet, and the RC-N1 about a month ago. I will check to make sure Fly is stopped, and do a force stop if necessary. I week or so ago, Fly wasn't running, but my tablet had a notification saying there was update for Fly. No matter what I did, I couldn't get rid of that notification. It really pissed me off! I will also try your advice on the pictures. Thanks a lot!

I've been flying with my tab S3 since I bought it in 2018. Unfortunately, they updated it from Pie to Oreo and ever since then it's been a pig. So I'm going to downgrade it back to pie this week. But even as oreo it still works though it's sluggish. I bought a newer tablet, a Samsung Tab A9+, but I've found it has major problems. The colors are nowhere near as good as the S3, and what's worse, it won't play the mavics raw 4k video! So that's totally unacceptable. That's why I will attempt the rollback. I never had the problems that were in the link you posted.

I found the tablet wasn't connected to the RC-N1, maybe because of a corroded usb port. So I change to the brand new RC‐N1 I got with my mini 3 pro. Now I got it to connect and link with Fly. Then I changed to dronelink, and had 19 satellites, but it wouldn't let me fly. Fly always let's me flyvwhen GPS is still red. So the mini overheated and I waiting for it to cool down. I fly out of a fairly confined car port so I don't get maximum satellites until I'm in the air. I hope this doesn't keep happening. As you can see from tge screenshot,  I have plenty of satellites and should be able to fly.

Are you not getting any live video feed?

I wasn't even thinking about that. But from the screenshots it looks like I wasn't. But for a while I was. Has unlocking geo zones been resolved in dronelink?

No video feed is a big problem, and usually means you either haven’t terminated DJI Fly correctly or you haven’t granted all permissions.

The NFZ discussion is already here: https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/7051486179475

Thanks Jim. I will look into that, and the NFZ link. I got an email telling me about your post. When I click the link to the forum, it says if I want to comment, I have to sign in. Shouldn't I be automatically signed in in this case?

It also seems there are two different icons for dronelink web pages. One is the two brackets, and the other is support.  dronelink. com.

The one with the black background is the shortcut to the app itself, not to webpages< and looking at that you've got the wrong version installed for the mini3, you should have Dronelink DJI installed, the shortcut for which has DJI on it, and this is whats causing all your problems, you need to download it from here https://www.dronelink.com/download

The forums are hosted by zendesk, which is why they have a different login system. Zendesk my require you to login again from time to time, and if you aren’t able to post I’m not sure, but maybe try a different browser?

Martin, you're right that my icon does not have DJI under it. But I went to the link you gave me, selected mini 3 pro, and RC-N1. So I don't know it can not be the right app. But I will try again.
Yes, Jim, I use a somewhat secondary browser, I use Opera. But I've used it forever and I'm pretty attached to it.

Martin here is a screenshot of the apk I installed. You sed it does have the DJI underneath the icon.

If you are using the Mini 3 Pro you need the Dronelink DJI app, not the Dronelink app.

OK. I just replaced it. I don't know how I got the wrong one in the first place. Glad you guys noticed that. I'll test it tomorrow.

I should apologize for my lack of not noticing the first screenshot which shows it was Dronelink. I don’t use either of the drones which require the DJI version so I didn’t even think about it. I believe it indicates a small DJI next to it when you open the DL Native App. I’m sure that would have saved you some headaches over the last couple days. 🤪. Also I’d suggest using Firefox browser which is fully supported and from a standpoint of performance it works the best. Pilots choice of course but I believe you will have a better user experience when using Firefox browser. Enjoy.

I was unable to fly today with my slower tablet, where it says low performance device. I fly with this tablet with DJI Fly all the time. It's my tablet of choice to take on trips, since my other tablet won't playback 4k smoothly. Would low performance device prevent you from flying all the time? Also, it asks me to login. I thought you only had to do that once? What if I don't have internet?
I always use opera. I don't like changing browsers, because I have all my favorite sites on speed dial.

You said you were unable to run a mission. Was it just the low performance warning message or would the plan not either load or run and execute. If it was just the message then click understand and try to load a plan and see if it will run. The low performances issue may come into play when running larger and longer missions. Also the mapping component is more resource intense and if it’s a large mapping plan and especially if running a Grid pattern you more then likely will have issues. As far as logging in, do you mean the DL Native app ? If so I have never needed to log in every time.

If the Opera browser works for you then use it but DL does not support that browser. The Firefox browser just works better compared to the other 3 supported browsers. So if you do have any issues with the Opera browser DL may not be able to assist.

No, I haven't tried to fly any waypoint missions. I'm strictly flying manually. I will click understand, and see if I can fly. I can still use opera but it just doesn't automatically log me in. My tablets internal memory is almost full, so I like to limit the number of apps(browsers) I install. Of course all android devices have chrome. Thanks for your assistance Mike.

Ok. The Firefox app isn’t that big. Also you don’t need to use the tablet you can use a PC. Enjoy.

Ok. I Only use my iPad because my PC is old and slow so I understand. Also if the tablet is almost full as you said earlier that can affect the tablet and cause issues when using any app. I’d find some things to delete and are not necessary and remove them. Whenever any device gets near its storage capacity it can be affected and can cause problems. Better save than sorry especially with a low performance device. Just a suggestion Steven.

Sorry, I'm getting confused< I thought yo were having a problem connecting to the drone with the app, but reading the last few posts it sounds as though you are just talking about planning missions, not flying them, in which case you just use the web app here https://app.dronelink.com/

Hi Martin. I just reread this entire thread, and i can't see anything where i was talking about missions. My plan is to do them eventually. That's why i bought dronelink. I thought my mini 3 pro would have the DJI waypoint missions. But i found out it doesn't.

Also, I'm in a really bad mood right now because of this.

This is what I emailed DJI.

My name is Steven Burnett. My account email is shb7772000@yahoo.com.  Please don't ask me for my drones serial number. I've told you that a million times.
I live in a blue geo zone, but has been unlocked for a long time.
I just couldn't fly, because the geozone wouldn't unlock. I have a screen capture. You can tell me how to send it to you.
I was trying to fly my mini 3 pro today and I couldn't.  I also have mavic 3 pro.
I had this problem before, along time ago, and you fixed it, but now it's not working again. Why can't you fix this? I'm so pissed off. Does your product work?
I'm going on another trip in a week and I need this working.  How many times is this going to happen before you fix your product? I thought you were supposed to be the best drone company,  but it seems like you're the worst.  Steve

I'm aware having low storage is a problem, but I have nothing left to delete. When I check the storage used on all my internal memory directories, it says 4 gig, but then it says I'm using 29 of 32 gig of my internal memory. How do you explain that?

I’ve only unlocked a couple times but I’ve never seen it done that way. You may want to look at this thread which has a video on how to unlock utilizing the DJI Flysafe website. That site will ask questions and will need a fair amount of information in order for them to authorize an unlock. Once done it will be stored in the DJI Fly app and I believe is good for three days. Even when it expires it is usually kept in the app for up to one year if I’m correct. If you go into the DJI app settings you should see the unlock for that zone. If not that’s probably why it’s not working. I’m sure Barry or another pilot which uses these unlocks a lot can help further. Also It’s not a big issue but in the future I know DL prefers a seperate thread when requesting help on a different topic. It makes it much easier in the future for other pilots to search for an answer with one issue per thread. Also better so all the pilots and DL staff are able to assist with the one topic and not be confused as to what issues you may still be having. Hope that helps.

You should also look at the DJI help article since it’s their drone.

I wasn't trying to ask a new question. Just saying why I was pissed off. I've done a lot of geozone unlocking. Now a days, I just email DJI, and they will unlock any zone for you. The problem is, you need three things. You need your drone outside, connected with GPS. You need internet. And you need a cell connection. And I goto places where I can't have those three things at the same time.
