Mapping for Disaster Information

John Merryman
I use Dronelink for mapping and other functions. Works great. I live on an island in WA state. We have a robust emergency response program that the state uses as a preparation model. I have suggested it would be easy to program flights to cover all the neighborhoods on the island. Reason for my suggestion is this area could be hit by an earthquake and the roads impassible. I know I can download my flights to my phone and Tripletek tablet. I can cover battery charging with a generator. I would assume that GPS would still be working. So, my question is: Is there something I’m missing that would prevent this from being achievable? Thanks,

I think I’m understanding the question. GPS, (Satellites) have nothing to do with the DL app. The drone is what aquires the satellites so it works the same as when using the DJI app. The drones GPS, RTH, and all settings within the firmware work the same. So it doesn’t matter where you fly as long as the drone can acquire enough satellites just as it does with the DJI app then the DL app will work. Hope I Understood the question.

Yes, you understand what I was talking about.
In thinking about using the drones in a disaster situation, I didn’t see any reason it would not work.
I know they are used all the time to assist, my thinking is worst case with the island being heavily damaged. Just asking to see if I am missing something major that could stop it from working.
    Appreciate your response!
