Dji Air 2s + RC N1 transmission problem

Daniel Terc
Hello, I have a major issue with the transmission from the DJI Air 2s drone using the DJI RC-N1 controller, which I use either with the iPhone 13 or the M1 iPad pro. I plan a grid mission, and as soon as the drone takes off, the video transmission lags incredibly. I have updated Dronelink as well as the software on both the iPhone and the iPad. What could be causing this? I didn’t have these problems before. Thank you in advance for a help. Daniel Terc

Just tried with my MA2 with iPad 11 Pro, M2 and no issues with live feed. I even tried while recording 4K video and still no issues. You said DL is up to date but curious which version and what previous version which you said you didn’t have this issue before. If there is any issue maybe if will help DL to narrow it down. Also what size grid map is it and does the issue persist when running any other plan ?

Thanks Mike for quick response! I had an old version of DL few weeks ago and it started lagging, so I thought the problem could be with an DL old version. I uploaded the DL but the problem continues. I usually plan small grid maps. Once the drone is more than 30 metres away from me, it starts to lag. Yesterday I found out that it could be more a hardware problem, because it´s lagging with Dji Fly on manual flights as well.

Ok Daniel. I’m surprised that with either Apple device it’s struggling. The A15 chip on the iPhone and the M1 chip on the iPad. They both should perform extremely well. Even tried with my 5 year old iPad Mini 5 and it still works without issues and it has the A12 chip. Have you tried changing the cable and have you made sure all other apps regardless of what they are have been fully closed. Are you using any other apps which may be running in background like an antivirus, spyware, or something which could be using up resources. I’m confident there is something else causing the issue as most Apple devices are extremely powerful overall and work great, especially those models.

Edited: If you want to share the mission I can run it and see how it works with a few of my IOS devices. Also if you are using a longer aftermarket cable make sure the proper end is inserted into the controller. It should have a mark on the end if it which needs to be plugged into the controller side of it may not work correctly. All my longer cables have the little icon on the controller side plastic end. Just some other suggestions. Good luck.

Hey Mike, I never use any other apps while using DroneLink. I agree, I am super happy with apple devices and I've never had any issues anywhere else, only with the DL (or DJI Fly sometimes). Might be either problem with a drone itself or maybe the cables. I will try some new cables and will see what happens. If the problem remains the same, I think I gonna have to check the drone (I bought the drone about 1,5 years ago and I was flying a lot). According to some youtube videos, transmission problem is common with DJI Air 2s, thats what I found out yesterday.

    Thank you so much Mike!!

    All the best!

Ok Daniel. Even if the firmware is up to date I’d suggest doing a refresh on the firmware with DJI Assistant 2 PC software as well. Also delete the Fly app and reinstall. Can’t hurt and at least you will eliminate those as possible issues. Hope it gets figured out as I haven’t seen any others reporting this here. Good luck.
