Flying in an unlocked geo zone

Ghost1917

I recently flew a map mission in a zero grid unlocked geo zone (on the grounds of an Airport) and ran into a situation where I received a message in the Dronelink flight dashboard indicating that the Automatic control was interrupted. I immediately took control of my Air 2s and returned it home. My first inclination was that the drone lost connection and this is why the automatic control had been interrupted so I resumed the mission only for the drone to again lose automatic control at the exact same point. After some troubleshooting I determined the original geo zone (polygon) I had requested an unlock code for ended almost exactly where the automatic control was interrupted. So I went back into the DJI Flysafe website and requested a second geo zone unlock, only this time I used the circle instead of the polygon to mark out the geo zone and gave myself plenty of leeway making sure I covered the entire mission flight path. I resumed the mission and it completed without any other interruptions. Hopefully this is helpful for anyone else flying missions in geo locked zones, remember to give your self plenty of extra airspace….: )

    Good info.

I always expand the area when requesting unlocks. I've found DJI will usually have no problem going a little extra to give you room to move.
