Why Do You Say You Support Mavic 2 Pro & Mavic Pro When iPhone Model X Shows Poor Performance?
I have used your software successfully with my DJI Mini 2. But now that I've started a small LLC business,, I wanted to upgrade my drone inventory and continue to use DroneLink. Every iPhone model supported for the Mavic 2 Pro & Mavic Pro is on your list of "poor performing'. In my specific case I was going to buy a Refurb iPhone Model X on Amazon and buy a new Mavic 2 Pro on Amazon with 3 year repair/replace warranty. The highest iPhone model the Mavic 2 Pro supports is iPhone X.
I am aware the Mavic 2 Pro is discontinued model by DJI... but it is still widely used and has great features.
I suspect you listed it as 'supported' because there are Android phone models that have good performance with these drones. I'm glad I stumbled on to your page that lists the iPhone model X as 'poor performance' just before I spent $2,000 plus on Amazon.
There should be an asterisk or some other indication on the drone supported list that it is recommended for Android only. I will have to go to Hammer Missions or somewhere else at a much greater cost. Just my thoughts. I love your software. I just can't afford the DJI Enterprise drones series at this time and continue with Dronelink. If I have made any incorrect statements, I know you will correct me. I want to be wrong! Thank you for offering wonderful products and support.

It’s just a warning about older devices which may not perform as well as more modern devices. Also you can use any new IOS device with the M2P. DJI does not limit any device which can be used and just throw out ridiculous information which is incorrect. There are plenty of pilots here using the Mavic Pro series with newer iPhones and iPads like the iPad Mini 5 & 6, iPad 11 & 12 Pros, iPhone 12, 13, 14 etc.
Mike, thank you for this very welcome information. I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the iPad Mini 6. Can I assume the Mavic 2 Pro, then, can be used with my current devices also since the Mavic 2 Pro is a later model than the Mavic Pro? I'm just being very specific since I'm investing $2,000 plus. Based on what you said, I believe (know) your answer will be 'yes'. Again, thank you for this clarification...gordo
I apologize for not realizing that drone uses the DJI Go app, not the DJI Fly app. The Mini iPad’s or the iPhone’s may work but since I don’t have that specific drone I can’t confirm with any of my iPads or several iPhones. DJI says they may not support a specific device bit that may not mean they don’t work they just won’t give support of any issues. I’d suggest checking the DJI forum to get a current answer from one of the DJI reps. Sorry for my brain freeze. Good luck.
I have in the past used an iPad mini 5 and a Samsung Galaxy S21 to fly the Mavic 2 Pro using both Go4 and Dronelink.
I Thought you had but didn’t want to put something out there which may not be true. I really don’t see why any of the newer devices would not work. DJI has some lists of supported devices but they only list older devices not a lot of the newer ones which do work. Looks like they don’t keep those up to date at all once the drone has been released. In this case that drone was released about 5 years ago and the list indicates an iPhone 6 will work but I doubt it would work well if at all. Lol……
This all comes down to what kind of business you want to run. I'm sorry, but sometimes people need to hear this. If you are running a drone business, you need equipment that will not frustrate both you and your clients. Trying to make old stuff work with new software is a recipe for headaches and jobs lost. Give applications like Dronelink the best chance for success by bringing highly performing devices to the table. Also, using any iPhone out in the field with a demanding application, plus the reality of hot days coming up in the summer, well that is yet another complication that can drive somebody to drink.
Tony, I agree with you. I went ahead and bought the Mavic 2 Pro since I have 30 days to return it to Amazon. I was able to activate the M2P connecting it to my iPhone 12 Pro Max. I updated all the databases and latest GO 4 app which supports and supplies my Remote ID for the FAA.
The Hasselblad camera works fine and I hovered in my living room with 16 satellites 6" off the floor and set it down. I'm taking to my RC flying field tomorrow which will be our warmest day at 71 degrees. I will put it through its' paces and make sure everything including Intelligent Flight modes work.
My current business is comprised of manual inspections, roofs, storm damage, and new housing, etc. But, I want to expand to mapping and other types of missions since I live near a lot agriculture to West and industry to the North & East. I spent $900 on Hammer Missions subscription in 2023 and couldn't fly one job due to Covid, long Covid, and a surgery. I broke its' spell finally a couple months ago and I decided to try Dronelink at less cost. (FYI-all vaccines were uptodate!) I had a full year of expenses in 2023 with zero income. So I'm looking to reduce costs until I can generate some income.
My other drones are the Phantom 4 Pro V.2.0 and the DJI Mini 4 Pro. The bottom line is, if Dronelink works for me, I will stay with them. Since there's a 95% chance I will keep the M2P, I will test it with my iPad Mini 6 for the benefit of others. I'm sure it will work fine. But I only use the Mini with my Phantom.. Thanks to Mike & Barry for their input also...gordo
Good to hear the devices will work. DL is at the top of all the apps which work with these drones with a lot of functionality. Good luck.
Glad you came away from the illness and can get down to business! You are going to love Dronelink. I can honestly say, I cannot work without it. It is nothing short of a lifesaver.
