I have lots of map missions called "New Map Plan"
Try giving them a proper title when create them, new map plan is the default, just enter a title in the area ringed in red
Thank you for your response, martin. The problem I have is that the mapping plan reverts to default after exiting editing. That is the reason why I have so many plans named "New Map Plan". I have tried to recreate it but the result is same.
The solution for now is to duplicate the existing mapping plan and then edit the duplicated plan.
Does it work in a different browser or on a different device?
May not be your issue but this has happened to me a few times over the years. Usually I wait and go back onto the Web app an hour or so later and it’s saves again. Im guessing it may be to do something with the cloud, server or whatever. Is it not as saving over several hours or days ? I just tried and no issues at this time.
Hi all, I came across this thread as I have the same issue. Has a cause already been found or a solution?
Today I have tried to create a Map mission but it stays with the default "new map plan". I can add, change or remove respositories and when I try to create a new Map mission both on Chrome, Edge and on the Android app it wont sync or save any changes. As soon as I close the mission planner and open it again, all changes have been set back to default except for some of the settings.
I have tried copying one of the "new map plan"s which I have created to see if that works as pointed out previously but that also does not work.
Any advice or assistance would be appreciated.
Copying the plan has always worked at least to save it before losing everything before closing the plan. Are you sure it wasn’t saved in another Repo ? To make sure they will save just clear out everything in the browsers settings to include, browsing history, cookies, cache etc, absolutely everything. Even all the website data offline or otherwise. Also someone reported it was due to their WiFi routers cache not clearing out so once rebooted it saved. There are a few threads about this issue and some or all the suggestions have fixed the issue. This is not a DL issue it is with the device or PC browsers.

Surprisingly I just went into DL Web app with Firefox browser on my iPad which is what I use and this happened again. It doesn’t happen often but all I did was go into the Firefox settings and delete everything you see in the screenshot. Now saving as usual. I may depend on which browser of platform but it will fix the issue.
So, a quick update.
I tried all of the above on both Edge and Chrome. I also deleted all the previous map attempts. I then tried to create a new map in the same location as previous which still did not work, even when creating a copy. It returns to the default state as if I placed the "take off location" pin for a new map (new map plan purple pin after placing).
I tried to create a map plan in another location somewhere else and this worked perfectly, syncing through to my Android device almost immediately.
So I created a new map plan away from the original area where I was having issues by placing the purple new map pin where I now know there isn't an issue, then dragging the map area using the green circle over the area I was having issues with. This worked and synced perfectly.
I then tried to drag the "take off" purple pin into the same area and it reverted to the last saved point again. So it seems in my case the issue is that the purple take off pin cannot be in the area where I am trying to map.
The closest I have managed to get it is in the neighbouring port area a few hundred meters away.
I tried creating map plans in random other areas and found the same happens randomly at other locations. The below screenshot shows a test on a beach in Fiumicino (Rome) in Italy. It only saved and synced once I moved the purple pin away from the mapping area.
Do you have terrain follow enabled?
Hi Jim, terrain follow is not enabled. I left all the other setting standard as can be seen below. In this example, if I move the "take off" purple pin into the grid, it will not save or sync.
Can you share a mission plan in a location that causes the issue so I can try?
Sure.
This is for the Rome area: https://app.dronelink.com/luke-GrLeMiAB2bZKsBSJI7sn/5974-darsena-europa/plan/y4gMwawun4vcuvfQuZgy/MYVmEfOgc5OjYsET39AU
This is for one in France I randomly found now. I have left it as the default without moving the purple icon: https://app.dronelink.com/luke-GrLeMiAB2bZKsBSJI7sn/5974-darsena-europa/plan/PJuCLdo8cVFZIatJkfeG/LPPkUSPY9kL51sVr7lVW

I checked your plans and had same problem at your location. I moved it to my location and have no problems so maybe Jim can figure out why. I was able to copy either plan after I moved the reference pin or map and the changes were saved. Very strange but that’s technology.
That is my finding as well, there seems to be something blocking the save / sync function if the purple take off reference pin is not in an approved place but there's no way to see when it would be good or not. As soon as you move the pin, it saves / syncs.
Yeah I’ve never seen this in over three years. Did you try copying again since it did save after I changed or moved anything at those two locations. I know it’s not a fix but at least for now you should be able to save any plan. I also wanted to make sure you are copying the plans correctly. Are you going into the Repo and then clicking on the three dots were it says copy or delete. Or are you opening the plan and after making changes then going up the three dots to go into the settings and then select copy. This way you should see the page automatically refresh and it has always saved this way for me on your plans. As I said it’s not a fix but it should save until this gets figure out. I’ve tried this way several times on each plan after changing anything and they always save this way. As far as the reference pin that is not really important since all it will do is warn you when starting the mission that it is farther away then that reference pin placement. It will not affect the mission. Just click to start and it will fly from where you are and then to the first destination. Sorry I can’t help more.
I just tested both of these plans and I was able to make edits to both maps and the purple reference pins. This only happens on one specific device and / or network?
Obviously I have only tried with my account as I don't have access to a second account.
I have tried it on two different laptops using Chrome and Edge and on two different Android phones, a Samsung S9 and a Samsung S22ultra.
As for networks, I have tried on a starlink network, two different local fibre networks, and a 4G network from the phones.
Same issue across all.
Now that I know it is a purple pin location issue it is a easy fix by moving the pin and saving so at least there is a work around for now but it seems to be an interesting issue.
Mike, I tried your second way of making a copy after editing the map and this also works for me. Thanks for this tip.
Maybe it is a firewall, VPN, or adblocker setting that is interfering?
Those were my first checks, therefore the second laptop. I presume it would also be a consistent issue but this seems to be location specific as with all the locations where I have found this issue, there are no issues in creating a new map starting a few hunder meters away.
The same issue happens if I try to create a new map from the mobile device in the same way.
I just tried different flight plan types to see if it is consistent with other plan types.
With the France location, there is no issues to create both a waypoint plan and an orbit plan in the location where there is an issue with the map plan.
With the Rome and Livorno tests, there is an issue also with waypoints and orbit.
Can't do much about it if we can't reproduce it unfortunately.
I’ve tried again on the Rome plan using my iPad 11 Pro with Firefox to move the reference pin or map just a bit at that location. The message doesn’t come up to save as current or create new and of course doesn’t save after closing. As soon as I move it my location it saves every time. I even tried creating a waypoint and an Orbit and it won’t save them at that same location in Rome. I don’t use any Ad Blocker, VPN or anything else. Not sure why it saves at that location when Jim tries it but I’ve seen strange things before which make no sense. I did try a couple other things and found after not saving I opened it again and changed just the camera from MA2 (48MP) to MA2 or even Mavic Pro and sometimes the message comes up and then saves. I have no idea why.
On a separate topic Luke, setting the camera to the MA2 (48MP) won’t capture high resolution photos. You will need to go down to the Photo Type and select High Resolution which is only available with a professional plan. If you do then change from single photo to High Res.
I'm having the same problem. I've tried different browsers, different network, different location for the plan, disabled popup blocker and ad blocker. Nothing I do results in the plan being saved other than creating a copy. However changes to the copy aren't retained either so every time I want to save any change I'd have to create a copy.
The system looks neat but this is a a show stopper. Any thoughts before I request a refund?
Hi Mike, thanks for the tip regarding high resolution photos. It is strange then to have this specific option in the list if it doesn't actually change the camera settings. I'll do some test flights using the different settings to see what the difference is.
klaas, instead of saving copies, try the work around which I am using by moving the "take off" position marker out of the area where you are creating your map. It should continue to save automatically once this is moved from then on and it doesn't affect the actual flight once flying as the plan will update with your actual location before you start your flight.
Hi Luke,
Thanks for that! This has finally worked for me. For anyone else that finds this thread in future, I did have to move the "take off" position a fair away away for it to work (say a few 100m). When it brings up the dialogue box "Start Editing - Continue editing the current version or create a new version?" then you know its going to work.
What a strange bug!
Cheers,
klaas
