Flight parameter controls for On-the-fly missions

Michael J. Bennett

How does one edit parameters such as action on finish and max speed when creating Adaptive Facade - On-the-fly missions on something like the DJI RC Pro controller?  I can see these parameter settings in the web app under plan settings after I conduct such flights but not while I'm creating and deploying the on-the-fly missions in the field on the drone-linked controller while in Dronelink.  I suppose I'm unsure what "plan" the on-the-fly missions fall under (so that these parameters may be edited either before or during on-the-fly mission creation).  Thanks.

One option would be to convert the on the fly mission to a normal mission, and then edit that.

Michael J. Bennett. Your question: “How does one edit parameters such as action on finish and max speed when creating Adaptive Facade - On-the-fly missions.”

The action on finish when using On the Fly missions or any other type should always be defaulted to RTH. As Barry stated, you can save and then edit in Web app later but RTH on completion of missions is default for obvious reasons. As far as On the Fly Facades, check this help article. DL has a lot of help articles and tutorials you can look through.

Thanks, Barry.  I will look into the practicality of your idea.

Thanks Mike.  I've reviewed the On-the-Fly help article a few times in the past, and so far I've not seen anything there that touches upon being able to edit action on finish or max speed.  I've used Adaptive Facade missions many times for jobs and I'm constantly aborting the RTH default upon mission completion as I incrementally move around a building with the drone still in the air while setting up and deploying the next successive facade mission.  If I were to RTH after each captured facade it would be a waste of batteries, time, and an unnecessary collision risk.  That's why I'm curious about switching the default behavior away from RTH to None.  Max flight speed is another parameter that I would like to decrease for safety and better control reasons as I'm often capturing large campus buildings that are many times very close to one another with trees as obstacles along various horizontal flight paths.

Other than these issues, and when paired with RTK, I've found the Adaptive Facade feature to be uniquely excellent for setting up these types of missions that require high precision using accurate marks taken in the field off of real facades.

Understood. I don’t run Facades so not sure what options are in the set up process. If it doesn’t have the ability to change the speed and action on finish during the set up then as Barry stated it can be done in the Web app. I know with most On the Fly missions you can set them up and once ready you can just click the play/start button and once executed and it starts the mission you can stop it and then land. Then go into the a web app and access that mission and save it and then edit the plans speed and action on finish just like with any other plan. As long as it was started it should save the mission in your flown missions which can then be fully edited. It does not need to be flown to completion to be saved in your flown missions. At least this is how it works for most On the Fly missions so I don’t see why it would be different with a facade. Not sure if this will help but thought I’d mention it.

That's a good idea for me to try, which I will do.  Thank you, Mike.

But the suggested workflow also perhaps illustrates why it would be great if the Adaptive Facade functionality could have these common parameters controls included right in the Adaptive Facade setup itself to lessen the scramble between mission setup/control and plan settings (w each managed through two different UIs).
