How to update home point in the field (not same point on mission Planner in computer) ?

Hasan Chen

Hi..

I am using elite plan.

Using DJI mini 3 Pro with RC Pro

After I make the mission plan on computer, the home point is set. When in the field, because of the road access, the home point is changed (around 2 km) from the point that is set on computer.

How to change the home point in the field when we want to fly the drone (using RC Pro).

Is there away to update the home point automatically?

Please help (if possible please attached screen shot) ..

Thank you..

Are you worried about where it will return to when it needs a new battery or you hit the RTH button?

By default, it will return to where you took off from regardless of the start point in the mission.

The web app mission planner doesn’t have anything to do with the drones recorded home-point. The purple pin is just a reference pin for the take off location of the plan You can move the purple reference pin to the actual take-off location in the field if you want to as long as you have internet service. That pin won’t effect the take -off of the drone or has anything to do with the drones recorded home-point. If you’re too far away from the reference pin as you mentioned It will advise you and ask if you want to start the mission anyway. It won’t effect the mission unless you selected the reference to Specifc Area. Then you will need to be within the orange take-off area or it won’t launch. Basically the reference pin and home-point are two very different things. Hopefully that clears up the difference.

There are a couple other things to consider. The actual starting point of your plan at about 2K away may run into connection issues depending on the environment. It may work fine but sometime to be aware of. The drone needs a strong and clear connection between the controller at all times regardless of which app. If it loses the signal after about 10 seconds it will trigger RTH just as when using the Fly app and return. The other thing to consider is the battery usage. 2K out and back and possibly even farther away depending on where the plan ends or when it triggers RTH for a battery swap will obviously consume more battery. So depending on how large the plan is it may take more battery swaps. If you can’t find a closer starting point then it’s a couple things to consider and be aware of. Enjoy.

Did anyone figure this out? I also want to update my home point if I'm on the move bc I often hike with my drone.
