ArcGIS Pro KMZ Files

Bryce Riley

I see that there was another question similar to mine, but it hasn't gotten any feedback as of late. I am converting my SHP files in ArcGIS to KMZ files. After I convert them, I am getting an error while trying to import them on the Drone link website. I then uploaded these KMZ files to Google Earth and saved them as a KML file in case that was the issue. I ran into the same error as before. The test polygon I created in Google Earth is able to be uploaded without any issues. Any ideas how I can get all of my polygons in ArcGIS onto the platform without having to remake the polygons in Google Earth?

I don’t know why but I’m sure it has something to do with how the KMZ file was created. Way too technical for me to understand but I have learned they are not all the same. I’ve ran into this same situation when I tried importing some KMZ, KML or CSV files in the past and only the ones which DL supports will work. The ones which will work are shown in the screenshot and is probably the same message which popped up when you tried importing. As long as the file you want to import is one of those type files specifically created by those software apps then they should work. If there is a way to use your files and convert them into the correct file format to import into DL then someone with more knowledge then me will need to assist. As you found out even if you import the KMZ from DL into Google Earth and then export the KML into DL it won’t work. Sorry I can’t help more. This DL article may not help but thought I’d add it.
