No video on mini 3 after reinstalling app.

DUNCAN WILSON
Had all this working a few months back, with lots of app crashes but usable at least. Had to clear my phone of apps at one point, I just reinstalled today and now I have no video feed. Phone is xiaomi poco x3 it and the drone are fully up to date. Downloaded apk from this page https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360033520874 Using the rc-n1 Downloaded the link for modern dji drones next to where it says dji dronelink. Also getting a message saying premium account does not support the unknown. Works on dji fly and not running the dji app in the background. Would upload screenshot but can't see how to do that here. If you could at least help me make sure I've downloaded the right apk that'd be a start. As I said.. Was previously working I'm sure that my phone is compatible.

Any solutions? Iooked before I posted but obviously couldn't find anyone in exactly the same boat, or with a solution. Annoying but.

Got an autel evo 2 that is giving me grief too. So annoying, I had to cancel a job.

DUNCAN WILSON, pending the resolution, I switched to another phone (keeping mini3), or used the initial phone (and took mini 2).

I guess the resolution shall come from dji sdk

Thing is, my phone worked with it previously to installing the app a second time. I know the app works with my phone.

Will add it to the list of phones that have already been reported to DJI.

DUNCAN WILSON. You also said you are having issues with your Autel Evo II as well. Just to be clear, that is only supported with IOS and uses a different DL version app. If your are using IOS with that drone then I’d post a separate thread with the issue your having so they can help.

Jim my phone was working with it it 3 months ago, now it isn't. What happened? Is there an older version of the apk that worked on my phone where the current one does not?

Details are here, TLDR: DJI re-wrote the video previewer the MSDK, which fixed the issue with the app crashing all the time, but apparently it doesn't like some phones, particularly ones from Xiaomi.

Mike, the autel is a seperate issue, not using Dronelink on it, though I'm tempted to as it may resolve its issues, which is that missions fail to upload on its native mission planner, a problem I see others having with them.

I'm only on premium, so which doesn't include use with the autel. I signed up with Dronelink so I could make mission plans for the mini.

Thanks for the explanation Jim. Are there likely to be any fixes to the code from Dji for this in the near future? Is there any workaround for those of us affected by it?

DJI is being responsive to our communication, but they never really give any timelines or commit to any fixes. No work-arounds that I am aware of and we can't really go back to the previous version because the crashing is way worse (for the majority of users).

Ok Duncan. It sounded like you were using the Autel with DL. If you are using any drone with DL for professional purposes then you should have a professional plan anyway so upgrading to one of those will include the Autel.

Yeah, upgrading to an option that in ludes the autel might be it's saving grace, or not. DL has a good model for mission planning, better than other platforms I've used, when it's working anyway.

Hey Jim, I tried using Drone link on my iPad for the mini 3 pro thinking it might be a work around until Dji (hopefully) updates their msdk for greater device compatibility, not holding my breath.

The Dronelink app on my iPad won't even connect to the drone though, I followed the steps on the beta test page.

As I would need to use the same iPad if I was to try and run my autel evo pro 2 v2 from Dronelink, I'm still unsure if it would work, and I'd have to upgrade my account from premium.

Is there anyway I can test if it will work before I upgrade my DL account?

It's a pain in any case to use  a tablet with the autel, but one I'd work around if I could do it at least.

Not super impressed with the autel app anyway, and it's not letting me upload missions in it's mission planning app.

The Mini 3 is Android only (DJI’s choice) and the Autel integration isn’t worth upgrading for.

Thanks Jim for being honest about the autel, if Dronelink worked with it it'd be worth it for me.

Do you know if the mavic pro 2 zoom works solidly with Dronelink? I've had a couple which I loved until they fell out of the air, might be worth grabbing a 2nd hand one if it's got good compatibility with the DL platform.

If for any reason you want to use Dronelink with a sub 250g on iOS, then pick up a mini2

Thanks Jim, assuming my xiaomi phone will work with the standard app on the zoom, as it was at least working for the mini 3 pro until Dji updated the msdk.

Thanks also Martin, I'm hoping the mini 3 pro will work, eventually..

I'll be happy when I can use my mini 3 pro with a stable version on DL that's for sure.

Considering buying a 2nd hand mp2 zoom for the interim, and cause it's been my favorite dji drone.

Hi DUNCAN WILSON, I'm considering to buy Poco X3 Pro for use with Dronelink - are the issues described here fixed in latest version of Dronelink and all is working fine with that phone?

Hi Damian, I ended up buying a secondhand S21 galaxy, which does the job great. I was always running out of memory on the x3, even tho it has an SD card slot, I could never figure out to store apps on the card.

I haven't tried since the last update of Dronelink which took the mini 3 pro out of beta.

Maybe I'll try it out on the x3 today for you?

Just tested, and I'm sorry, I can't say. I dropped my x3 in some water a while back and the data port stopped working. I'd forgotten about that. It may work with a normal x3, but I wouldn't recommend trying one to work it out. I got a 2nd hand S21 5g on ebay for about the same price as a new x3 with twice the on board memory and all round a much better phone. Defo works with Dronelink for the mini 3 pro.
