If the RC signal is disconnected during map mission planning, it seems to be defaulted to connect the mission by pressing the restart button when it is reconnected while hovering. How to carry out mission even if RC signal is lost?

Just to be clear. Do you want to:
1. Resume the mission after a signal loss, and once you have regained connection to the drone? If so, this is the normal behavior - just press play again once the drone has reconnected and it will continue from where it stopped.
2. Continue the mission even if there is no connection to the controller. If the latter, that only works with drones that can use "Onboard Waypoints", which includes the Phantom 4 series drones, the Mavic 2 series drones and the Inspire series. Anything after that will not do that.
