There is no 48MP photo setting. The High resolution photo type is what it needs to be set to on the mapping component and that is only available with a professional plan, not any Hobbyist plan. Either a Growth or Enterprise plan is needed.

I have a hobbyist plan. Under camera I am able to choose "Mavic - Mini 3 - Pro (48 Mp). Am I wrong assuming this is referring to the DJI Mini 3 Pro?
To me it seems like a very strong way of segmenting the features between hobbyist and professional usage if a hobbyist is not ment to be able to utilize the full camera functionality / resolution.
I think you'll find you've got previous users to thank for that, who used hobbyist plans for professional work
FWIW, the 48mp functionality doesn’t increase the sensor size, so it doesn’t actually increase the GSD from the physics standpoint.
Stefan Kinell. That’s not the photo type. Scroll down the card to “Photo Type” and select High Resolution. It will advise you that an upgrade to a professional plan is required. Hobbyist plans are very inexpensive and a one time fee so DL can’t include everything.
First, I think I need to read up a bit more on what the 48 MP feature of the mini 3 pro actually means. I had to read a bit Martin after you comment and I realize I perhaps assumed to much with what the advertised 48 MP will delver.
Second, if we skip the discussions of how the tiers and functions are structured. What I reported as a bug was that in the choice of camera I am able to choose between "Mavic Mini 3 Pro" as one selection and "Mavic Mini 3 Pro (48MP)" as another selection. When choosing the later one I assumed I would get 48 Mp images. They were not, they were 12 Mp images. I still consider that as a bug. Am I not right?
Mike - sorry if I did not include a clear respons to your comment in my answer. Yes, I understand and saw that there was an option to choose photo type. As I wrote above, the bug I tried to report was related to the choice of camera that did not render what I expected.
As a side note, which I probably should write to Dronelink as a comment. I choose "hobbyist" since the usage for dronelink for me falls under "non profit organisations" since the use case is when I do orienteering maps for our non profit orienteering sports club. For other software or when buying GIS-data from the government other data for non profit purposes we often can have a discounted price, but still get the same software or data as when there is a commercial use. I have the same set up in my company that sells mapping solutions, there I have very different rates, for the exact same product, depending if you are using ot for personal use, non-profit sport clubs or if you are a company or an authority using the map service. Since the hobbyist-level of licens included the mentioning of non-profit-organisations I presumed some of the basic usages were the same. Which turned out to be wrong in this case.
Understood Stefan. Also be aware that many of the camera, drone, gimbal functions as well as others are put in the DJI SDK software which DL uses. One example is there are many different video resolutions and some frame rates which will not work with any of DJI drone. As I have read before, DJI seems to just through in a bunch of random settings without reason and they don’t test or check to make sure they will even work. As far as the Mini 3 (48MP) camera selection, I don’t see it as a bug since there is no way of the Web app knowing which drone or which plan you have and then only expose what works. So those type settings need to be in there for others which have a drone and /or plan which can utilize that setting. One really nice feature is DL’s system can be used with any supported drone across many different platforms and devices. I have two DJI drones and I can use DL with either one for no additional cost with a Hobbyist plan. Didn’t mean to get off in the weeds but DL is a very powerful app with so much more to offer than many others out there and it will take time to understand what will work with your specific drone and plan. It comes down to what you will be using your drone for and how much you are willing to pay to utilize the functions needed. DL has fantastic support and as always there are many pilots which can help here. Enjoy….
The camera selection in the map component is for the purposes of calculating the flight path based on the sensor (GSD) and desired overlaps. As Mike stated, the web app cannot know which drone you actually intend to fly the mission with as there is no drone connected during the planning phase. Having said that, it seems like a nice feature for the app to detect that you have selected High Resolution photo type or one of the 48mp sensor specs and not the other and issue a warning in the issue detector.
I was dissapointed that a 48 mp mapping mission can not be acomplished with DJI Mini 3 Pro using the professional starter plan. When I read the feature list for the professional starter plan this was not mentioned. I plan to cancel this service after my month is up. Glad I did not pay for an annual membership.
It does indicate in the Starter plan that it does not have Photo Type which you can click on and see what function it refers to. As far as using 48MP, the mass majority of users have either a12MP or 20MP capable drone. If the camera is set up correctly and the mapping plan is set up properly the difference would be undetectable. I’m sure Barry or Martin could show you one which was done with either 12MP or 20MP and they are perfectly clear, sharp and quite incredible. It’s your decision but really won’t make any difference overall. Pilots choice of course. Good luck.

It should be known that a 12mp to 48 mp by dji is used by quad Bayer principal...to be honest it is not a real 48 mp image..the sensor size is the sensor size. You can see it a bit like for 1 photo it wil use 4 shots and combine it. You should test it 1 photo 12 mp stay there and then a 48 mp...evaluate it ..zoom in and look at the edges of a building...my photos of mavic 3 with only 20 mp or my phantom with 20 mp is much sharper then my 48 mp from my air...same distance same location
Thank you all for the replies to my post.
Basically I had the same experience as Stefan. I had just gotten a DJI mini 3 pro with a huge 48 MP camera. Flew my first mission. Looked at the images and saw they were only 12MP.
I was disappointed, but I have come to realize my expectations of the mini 3 pro were unrealistic.
The mini 3 pro is a great drone for what it is. It can fly for 45 minutes, take fairly remarkable pictures & video, and almost fits into my pocket.
I've been flying a Mavic 2 pro since 2019. It's getting tired. I've put a lot of flight time on this copter.
I erroneously thought the mini camera was basically like the mavic's camera (I saw 48MP and did not look much farther). I have now learned about the quad bayer sensor in the mini (https://m.gsmarena.com/quad_bayer_sensors_explained-news-37459.php).
All in all the mini is a nice drone, but the camera sensor has some limitations and its pictures are not comparable to a traditional camera sensor of 48MP.
The Dronelink camera setting "DJI Mini 3 Pro 48 MP" provided unexpected results for me. I took a second at the pricing matrix (https://app.dronelink.com/pricing/professional/compare). It's still not obvious to me I would not be able to select image size from this.
However, as has been pointed out, the 12MP images may yield very similar (or even better) results as compared to the 48MP images.
I'm still learning how DL works. There seem to be some interesting features I'm uncovering as I continue to explore this mission planning tool.
I appreciate all the help. Thanks . . . and I may not give up on DL just yet.
We're always here to help, most of us have been in the same or similar situation as you
@ seth...well said..and indeed dl have some good features also I am still a noob and once in a while I try some things with dl to learn and try to understand.
And I believe also that dji delivers some verry good items on small drones..but like you said everything has limits...
Grtz
