Cannot lock drone to a position while mapping with 90 degree camera.
Edit. This was an error on my part. Please read through the comments if you have the same misunderstanding. Leaving the post up for others benefit. Thank you to the wonderful members of this group!
Hello group. Having an issue with keeping the drone locked to a position while flying a mapping mission, I need the drone to stay in one direction the entire time. In this particular case....south or north. It does matter which. So on the long passes...the drone moves forward....on the short ones...it strafes. I do not want the drone to ever rotate in other words.
Currently have a custom heading of north with a heading of 0. I have tried 180 as well...but the drone still turns for some reason.
With a custom heading of North and a heading of 90....it will strafe the long paths and with stay locked to the East position. I just cannot get it to do the same thing in a forward position, so it only strafes the short sections.
Thanks in advance!

Go into the map component. Change the drone heading to custom and then set it to some number relative to North. It will then fly facing that direction on all of the elements where photos are taken.
You might need to be in expert mode to see that option.
Hey Barry, Thanks for the reply. Heres how it is set. For some reason...the only way it will lock is if I set it to a 90 or-90 heading. Otherwise...the drone rotates.

See my comment above "It will then fly facing that direction on all of the elements where photos are taken."
The drone will rotate to face the direction of travel while moving to the start of the next row, then it will face the set direction again.
All of the photos will be taken with the drone facing in that direction. On the assumption that it's the photos that matter, that should give you what you need.
Hope that helps.
You are absolutely correct Barry! I apologize for missing this. I got hung up on the wrong detail!
Should I pull this post down since it was my mistake or leave it posted?
I'm a fan of leaving things there - others may have the same issue. Up to you though!
I’ll leave it up. I think this is an easy mistake
