Mavic 3E On-board Waypoints?

Marc Sandlhauser

Hi, we photograph some very large construction sites which sometimes cause, "drone drift" errors in Dronelink using Virtual Stick.

Just wondering if there's an approximate timeline for onboard waypoints being implemented on M3E?

Thanks!

It is not currently prioritized. Does the issue only happen at certain locations or with certain size missions?

With larger sites (one is 298 acres, the other is 347). I usually place myself somewhere in the middle to allow for the best connectivity. When I get the drift errors, I just switch to my Mavic 2 Pro and Litchi. But that drone is four years old, so who knows how long it will last. :)

I'm assuming no one else has asked for this feature?

Also, I wanted to thank you, Jim, for the level of support you provide. We've converted our entire workflow over to Dronelink (with the exception of large sites), and its been nice to only use one software package. Kudos!

Hi, Jim. Could this at least be moved to Feature Requests? Not having an option of Waypoint missions could seriously hamper those of us flying large areas? Thanks.

I also don't mind re-posting to that forum if that's easier. Thanks.

We already have it on the internal list, but I can move this thread to the feature requests section.

Isn´t the drone offset feature useful in such a case ?
I never tested it, so not able to answer this question.

    Thank you, Jim.

I can certainly try/test that. Thanks stephane.

Drone offsets does not work with onboard waypoints - it requires virtual stick. I think Marc wants onboard because he is concerned with the drone losing connection on larger missions.

    Actually the opposite, Jim. :)

I'd like waypoints because (at least I hope) that would "fix" the drift since I do not have issues with the Mavic 2 Pro using waypoints in Litchi for the same missions (they were imported as .csv into Dronelink). Of course, I could be wrong here...

I would like them to continue the mission with waypoints if they lose connection (and finish the mission) since they are very large.

I will test offset for virtual stick, however, to see if that fixes the issue for me. My M2P is rather old so I'd like to somehow get this to work with my M3E.

    Thanks!

This is my point, you can't have both. You either get drone offsets with virtual stick, or continue the mission when connection lost with onboard waypoints, choose one.
