Your Mobile Device is running too slow to control the drone reliably
I'm using the iPhone 10 XS Max and have been for almost 2 years and only started to see this message my last 2 missions. The only thing different is that I just updated to iOS 16.5 this week (from like 16.4.x or something like that). And updated to Dronelink's latest version. Clearly one of these 2 changes is causing the error. Is this device now considered a legacy device and no longer supported?

It is on there list. However, is it just the warning notice when you open the app or is it actually displaying the error when flying a mission ? The warning message is just notifying of possible performance issues and can be turned off, the error during any mission is a problem. Also even though it is on the list of possible lower performance devices it may still work. It may depend on what type of mission your running.

Thanks for the quick response, Mike. It started happening yesterday during 2 different missions. I would try to resume the missions and it would just pop up again within seconds of restarting. I never got to finish either mission, which was quite frustrating. Both were just standard mapping missions 1 rather large and one quite small. I'd barely gotten started with the smaller mission before it popped up and after trying to continue 3 times, I just called it a wrap.
Exactly the experience I had one day when I was flying with a Samsung Tab A. Bought an ipad mini Gen 6 and the experience is amazing with that device. Unfortunately DJI screwed all IOS users when they didn't bring out the Mini 3 sdk for IOS.
What are the map sizes in acres. The Mapping component especially if it is a large area will struggle with under powered device. The Web app will warn you when creating a Map component when it gets to 100 acres or larger. If using a Grid pattern it will even be worse even if it’s smaller. Always better to create smaller portions and since you will need battery swaps anyway at a given time it really doesn’t take longer to fly separate smaller maps. If the phone is struggling with smaller plans like paths, orbits or small normal pattern maps then it’s time to upgrade. I agree the iPad Mini 6 is more than powerful enough with the A15 chip. My iPad Mini 5 still works and has the A12 chip but at some point I’m sure it will be added to the list. I Bought the iPad 11 Pro and use it now and I’ll have that for a long time. Hope that helps. Enjoy…
What drone are you using now ? If you’re considering buying any of the newer drones DL will only work with Android since DJI decided to exclude IOS users. 🤪 Just something to think about so you won’t need to but two different devices with different OS…. Only two drones at this point that work but they may include other models eventually in the future.
The device running too slow error happens with the real-time control algorithm can't run fast enough to guarantee reliable results. The original list of Legacy Devices was determined by looking at our analytics on which devices were causing this error most often. It looks like we may need to add this device to the list unfortunately, as system (iOS) now appears to be taking up more of the baseline processing power of the device in the background. Apple add functionality to iOS over time which makes it more resource hungry, which is why even they disallow installing newer versions of iOS on older devices. Gotta love planned obsolescence.
