Create measurable waypoints in a mission

Jeff Fong
Good evening, I am wondering if it is possible to create a waypoint mission with a precise measurement of, example, 8-10 feet starting with waypoint A, then 8-10 feet to waypoint B and so on. Is it possible to add this function into the advanced list? Please advise. Jeff Thank you and great job with the app!

If you mean on the fly waypoints, the accuracy of the GPS sensors on DJI's consume drones (ones without RTK) is +/- 4m, so expecting to create a mission with higher precision than that isn't possible. If you mean planning a mission in the web based mission planner, it is theoretically possible but we don't have measurement tools with this level of accuracy to assist you, and even if you do manage to do it, flying it in the real world will still be subject to the GPS accuracy.

    Jim,
Afternoon and thank you for your quick reply.

Regarding the fly waypoints, I would plan a mission in your web based mission planner. Regarding my word precise, a “rough” 8-10 feet would suffice.

My mission is mapping Multifamily rooftops; taking 360 spherical panos and converting them into 3D with a software creating a 3D walkthrough. The planned mission using waypoints would significantly cut our flying time in half. We need to fly a specific pattern, triangle/diamond shape, depending on the area we are capturing and are hoping for a consistent 8-10 feet per each waypoint in order to collect enough data when we are processing

Hope I am explaining a good visual of our goals using Dronekink. Thank you! Jeff

Even if you are able to plan it with that level of accuracy, the drone won't give you that level of accuracy in the real world, but you can always try. I think the only way to accomplish something this exact right now would be through scripting:

The code is Javascript, and would look similar to this:

    Jim,
Scripting, got it. Currently above my pay grade. Lol.

I’ll be testing it today and giving it the “old-college-try.” I appreciate your time and explanations.

If you’re interested I can send you an example from today. All the Best Jeff
