How to do a Hyperlapse

Louis Tristan

Am trying to create a hyperlapse mission but it's not as fluid of a process. Are there any step by step material on how to create a hyperlapse mission or one that's already posted one can use as a reference?

https://app.dronelink.com/Louis%20Tristan/my-first-project/plan/AZEYAM6MY8DPwE4E6qsH

Also in my mission there are only 2 pictures that are going to be taken.. Usually a hyperlapse will have many images..

Trying to create something like this: but without using the DJI app

Thanks..

You need you to add a camera list for photo intervals. You can go to public Repos and then search Hyperlapse and find a couple public ones there and add it. Then change any of those camera parameters to what you want to use.

Took a look at your plan. I simplified it and removed all the camera auto captures, start and stop commands which where causing issues. You can change any of the settings like photo interval time, drone speed etc. It’s set up to take 2 second intervals which over the length of the path at 1 mph shoots about 60 photos. Obviously any change to the speed or interval time will change how many are taken. As always there can be several ways to set up a plan depending on the pilots needs. This is one way. Hope it helps

Also if wanting to use it this way on future missions just click on any Waypoint or Path Action/ Marker and select Camera Action then Continuous Photos.

Wow! Thanks soooo much Mike  - would have never figured that out.. Ok so I get the part that the speed will determine the amount of pics taken along with distance coming into play on how long the mission will take.

I actually took the time to replicate it step by step.  Will do it a few times just to get the flow down.

The only thing that boggles me is how is the one you created shorter in flight time?

Tried to duplicate it mine will take 5 minutes.. What did I miss?

Need to select the waypoint/ path and go to “waypoint start” and change to 10 mph so it goes to that point faster. Also you need to select the camera list you placed in there and move it to the top before the waypoint/ path. Otherwise none of those camera settings will be implemented until the end of mission on the flight. Always place any camera commands before any path, orbit, map etc, so it will set the camera to your parameters for each component.

You can also click on the camera list on that plan and go to the three dots on the right side card and select to add to Repo or even create a new one. This way you will have that camera list which can then be inserted into any future plan all in a few clicks. Makes it much quicker then needing to add each camera command on every plan. Just in case you didn’t know. I have about 10 or so component list for video, photos and even a few path or Orbit components saved in a Repo.

Never tried DL to make Hyperlapses since Dji Fly makes some easily, quiclky and efficiently.
Could some of you tell me what can be the added value using DL for that ?
    Thanks.

This is great thanks a bunch Mike - That's an amazing collection you have in the Repo...

Got it this one to work but had to change the gimbal position to -14

Fixed - had -15 in Gimbal Heading

Not sure where 65 was pointing it since it was too dark .. But it seems shifted a lot and then goes back to normal positioning at the end of the mission which isn't so warped..

Works pretty good - though..  Love it..

    Gimbal Position - Screen Cast:

Was getting shutter speed error so changed it to (Auto)

Also got a camera White Balance error so had to remove it..

    What do you think..

    Hey Stephane -

For me the added value is that these settings can be applied and tweaked to be flown @ any location on the map.

I have waypoint missions saved but they are designated for that particular flight mission/location - so a new mission with new presets has to be created @ new location in order for it to be flown with DJI.

With dronelink you just drag the mission to the new location then load and press play and adjust as needed.

So will drag this new mission on the map to new location without having to set new waypoints.

Got it... Have to say to was pretty challenging... Dronelink is pretty powerful once you figure out how to use it with the help of an expert.. Thanks Mike. Really appreciate the time you put into this..

Very welcome Louis. Good to hear it worked out. The shutter speed was my error. I just threw in a few commands quick just to show what a list could look like and when adding shutter speed the default is set to 1/800 s. I forgot to change it. Only commands/ settings that will work with any drone using DL are the same as what it is capable of in the DJI app. I always set my white balance and it has always worked so that’s a bit puzzling but it wasn’t important to the plan. DL app is a powerful tool and it will take time to learn many of the functions and how they work. As usual a plan can be set up several different ways depending on each pilots knowledge and what they feel works best for them. Great support here so anything you need just ask and someone can assist. Enjoy….

Louis Tristan. About dragging the plan to another location as you mentioned. You can move a plan to another location easily. Once moved you can drag the start point to exactly where you want it to start and adjust the path by rotating, adjusting it to go the direction you want. Just incase you weren’t aware of this feature.

love this idea... will experiment with this some more over the weekend. Plan to drag the mission on the map to a new location and see how it flys there..

By any chance you would not happen to have way point missions to share that one can recreate and experience, something with orbit and similar to mine with more waypoints and camera commands?

    Thanks...
