How to do a timelapse of a large (about 1 square kilometer) area?
I'd like to do a timelapse using a bunch of images stitched together since it's a large area. Should I use the map function for that and just repeat the map over and over? Or is there a better way?
Ideally I'd loe to be close enough to capture some good detail, which is why I don't want to just do a timelapse from really high, although that's certainly an option if I can't do close pictures.
And any software recommendation for stitching it all together? Currently I've been using mapsmadeeasy.com, which works well for maps, but I'm not sure if it can stitch a bunch of images together and output a single image.

If it is too large to fit into a single image then you can certainly use the map function, and processing in WebODM is probably the cheapest method. If you install it on your own machine then processing is free.
Process using this method (but without the orbit) https://youtu.be/nrw-3RLABkM
There are other videos in my Five Minute Friday series that also cover how to install WebODM, or you can just spend the $57 to buy the installer for your machine.
